Job summary

Harman International in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Fixed Asset Accountant to manage the complete asset lifecycle, CAPEX reviews, and SAP S/4HANA depreciation runs. You will maintain asset master data, reconcile balances, and support IFRS/US GAAP reporting with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.

The role requires 8–10 years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in fixed assets, and hands-on SAP S/4HANA FI-AA expertise.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in Fixed Asset Accounting.
• Experience in product-based, manufacturing, automotive, or industrial organization preferred.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Asset Accounting (FI-AA).

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete fixed asset lifecycle: creation, capitalization, transfers, retirements, dispositions, and write-offs.
• Review CAPEX requests and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Monitor CIP/AUC projects and settle to fixed assets timely.
• Maintain fixed asset master data in compliance with policies.
• Execute and monitor depreciation runs in SAP S/4HANA.
• Analyze asset balances and reconcile sub-ledger to GL.
• Perform period-end closings and related journal entries.
• Support IFRS/US GAAP/local GAAP reporting.
• Prepare asset schedules and variance analyses.

Job description

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Manage the complete fixed asset lifecycle, including asset creation, capitalization, transfers, retirements, disposals, and write-offs.
• Review and validate capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Monitor Construction-in-Progress (CIP/AUC) projects and timely settlement to fixed assets.
• Maintain fixed asset master data and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Execute and monitor depreciation runs in SAP S/4HANA.
• Analyze asset balances and perform reconciliations between sub-ledger and general ledger.

Month-End & Year-End Close

• Perform period-end closing activities related to fixed assets.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to capitalization, depreciation, impairments, and disposals.
• Reconcile fixed asset accounts and investigate unexplained variances.
• Support financial reporting requirements under IFRS, US GAAP, or local GAAP.
• Prepare asset schedules and reporting packages for management.

SAP S/4HANA Responsibilities

• Utilize SAP S/4HANA Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module for daily transactions and reporting.
• Support integration between Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Project Systems (PS), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), and General Ledger (FI).
• Participate in SAP enhancement projects, testing, process improvements, and system upgrades.
• Assist in defining and maintaining asset classes, depreciation keys, and accounting configurations.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Conduct periodic physical asset verification and asset tagging reviews.
• Ensure adherence to capitalization policies and corporate accounting standards.

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset reports.
• Analyze CAPEX spend against budget and forecast.
• Provide insightful variance analysis on depreciation and asset balances.
• Partner with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams regarding asset-related transactions.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process automation and standardization.
• Drive improvements in asset accounting processes within SAP S/4HANA.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.

Experience

• 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in Fixed Asset Accounting.
• Experience in a product-based, manufacturing, automotive, engineering, or industrial organization preferred.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Asset Accounting (FI-AA).
