Job summary

Vistance Networks in Hyderabad is seeking an Analyst, IT Operations Backup & Storage to join our infrastructure team. The role focuses on storage and backup administration, maintenance, monitoring, and issue resolution for storage devices and related applications.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with NAS/NetApp, Commvault backups, LDAP/AD authentication, and solid knowledge of virtualization, networking, and data center operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related curriculum.
• Five (5) plus years of related experience with Storage and Backup administration is preferred.
• Experience with NAS devices, especially NetApp (FAS/AFF/Cloud ONTAP).
• Experience with Commvault backups and protocols like NDMP.
• Experience with LDAP/AD authentication and virtualization/networking basics.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot storage and backup equipment and applications.
• Perform daily backups and restores of files, databases, and VMs.
• Troubleshoot SAN, storage, backup, and server issues.
• Configure and monitor storage/backup devices using relevant tools.
• Escalate complex incidents and provide root-cause analyses.

Job description

Vistance is recruiting an Analyst, IT Operations Backup & Storage, to join our team based in Hyderabad! As a Storage and Backup Administrator, you would be responsible for administration, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting issues for storage and Backup related equipment / Applications as per our IT standards. Work with other members of infrastructure team to implement and resolve issues in a collective manner providing highest level of quality as required by Business Units.

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

• Extensive experience with Storage and Backup platforms (EMC, NetApp, Commvault, etc.)
• Provide day-to-day Storage and backup device operations.
• At least 5+ years’ experience working with NAS devices, especially NetApp equipment (FAS, AFF and or Cloud ONTAP).
• Able to handle multiprotocol NAS volumes and user authentication using LDAP and AD.
• At least 3+ years’ experience working with Commvault backups using protocols like NDMP, IntelliSnap, etc.
• Experience using On Command System Manager, DDMC, etc. for managing NetApp and Dell Data Domain devices.
• Experience setting up monitoring tools like AIQUM and Cloud Insights to monitor and alert to any hardware/software-related issues.
• Doing recommended security hardening on Storage and backup devices.
• Troubleshooting/resolving SAN or network-related issues on Storage, backup and server equipment.
• Advanced Knowledge of Server Hardware, virtualization, networking and datacenter.
• Performing daily backups of files, folders, databases, and virtual machines.
• Performing restores of files, folders, databases, and virtual machines.
• Troubleshooting and resolving backup issues as per customer satisfaction.
• Performing maintenance on existing backup systems and databases.
• Advanced storage and backup system configuration and data migration techniques.
• Storage and backup Infrastructure upgrades, patch management
• Troubleshoot performance issues related to the backup and recovery environment.
• Resolve and if needed escalation complex incident/problem and provides root cause analysis.
• Providing descriptive and timely updates for all assigned incidents/problems.
• Liaison to vendors on vendor related incidents/problems
• Maintain backup policies and procedures, including the overseeing of the appropriate retention criteria and corresponding legal holds as required.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

• Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills.
• A completed bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related curriculum.
• Preferably with five (5) plus years of related experience with the administration of Storage and Backup technologies.
• Keeping up with new technologies and industry trends in Storage and Backup technologies.
• Handling shifts: Handling employee shift rotations and vacations.
• Strong Communication and reporting skills.
• Capable of developing written processes and procedures.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience with ticket management on the ServiceNow platform.
• Experience in preventing/handling Ransomware attacks.
