Job description

The role focuses on overseeing financial aspects of trading activity, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book. The position also supports compliance with regulatory requirements and provides insights into trading performance.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for monitoring and analysing trading-related financial data while maintaining strong controls and regulatory compliance. The role involves reviewing trading performance, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting risk oversight activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) for trading desks and confirm alignment with valued positions in the trading book.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in P&L reporting to ensure figures accurately reflect the economic value of the trading portfolio.
  • Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks related to trading activities and report findings to senior colleagues.
  • Maintain and analyse trading data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency while providing insights to traders and leadership.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and support external audit activities, including responding to auditor queries.
  • Communicate complex financial information to traders, risk professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coordinated trading and reporting processes.
  • Perform assigned activities on time while maintaining high standards and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Develop technical knowledge within the assigned domain and maintain a strong understanding of underlying financial principles.
  • Coordinate with related teams and functions to support operational processes and business objectives.
  • Take ownership of operational outcomes, ensuring adherence to internal policies, procedures, and risk controls.
  • Escalate policy or procedure breaches appropriately and support implementation of updated risk mitigation practices.
  • Contribute to decision making within the area of expertise and provide advisory support when required.
  • Analyse factual information to make evaluative judgements and resolve issues using established processes and experience.
  • Build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders while acting as a contact point for relevant activities.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
  • Qualified accountant.

  • Strong control awareness and ability to identify and escalate potential control breakdowns.
  • Capability to break down complex problems into manageable components and resolve them effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical capabilities.
