Job summary

Air France-KLM is seeking a Ground Engineer at Mumbai to carry out inspections, oversee technical handling and sign maintenance releases. The role demands a minimum of 2 years on-ground experience and an EASA Part 66 B1 certification, with strong English communication and teamwork skills.

  • Plan and supervise repairs and coordinate with home base and service managers
  • Maintain stock control of parts and ensure availability of ground support equipment
  • Provide supervision and coaching to team members and ensure safe operations

Job description

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

To carry out, or supervise, inspections, maintenance, testing and checks according to the rules and procedures in order to release the aircraft to service.

POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspections
  • To carry out and supervise technical handling of an aircraft, within the scheduled ground time, according to carriers instructions.
  • Performs the checklist according to the aircraft type and carriers instructions
  • Inspects the performed duties
  • Signs the required logbook for maintenance release
Analysing defects and complaints
  • Checks pre-arrival information on aircraft status, from crew and/or Maintenance Control Center
  • Contact flight crew directly after arrival for debriefing
  • Checks logbooks for open items
  • Analyses defects and complaints (trouble shooting)
  • Decides if defects and complaints can be deferred or rectified.
  • Informs and consults home base and/or Maintenance Manager/Duty Engineer/Service Manager/Operations/Crew upon actions to be taken
Technical Handling
  • To carry out and supervise maintenance and repairs of the aircraft
  • Ensures availability of work instructions (checklist)
  • Ensures correct and adequate stock control (spare parts and materials) and maintenance of ground equipment (if applicable), in accordance with company procedures
  • Plans and organises the repair process and deploys Mechanics
  • Performs or supervises repairs and technical handling
  • Communicates with home base and Service Manager/Operations/Crew about the progress of the repair process
  • Inspects the repairs.
  • Performs relief duties to other stations when required
Administration
  • Performs all administration related to the technical handling of the carrier, according to instructions by the carrier
  • Assist with station related activities as delegated
  • Manages and control the Technical Library
Supervision
  • Checks if duties are performed under safe conditions
  • Monitors and adjust manpower planning
  • Support and coaches other team members
  • Work closely with Senior and Duty Engineers on station projects

The responsibilities and tasks of the position are not limited to the above mentioned and change might occur in concert with direct Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES
Knowledge and experience
  • Is holding an EASA B1 AML preferrable with one of these types A320(NEO/CEO), A330, A330 NEO, A350, A380, B737 (NG/Max), B737 (NG/Max), B747-400/8, B777 and B787
  • Is certifying staff according to EASA Part 66 Cat. B1
  • Has sufficient experience as a Ground Engineer (Minimum 2 years)
  • Reads, writes and speaks English
  • Has the proven ability to quickly and accurately identify more complex issues and problems that require thorough analysis
  • Is able to envisage the broader consequences of various decisions
  • Is able to arrive at a sound judgement in the face of conflicting facts and ambiguous information
  • Awareness of internal issues in the team and able to correct accordingly
  • Capable of understanding multi-cultural working environment
