Job summary

DHL IT Services is seeking an AI Solution Architect in Chennai to lead the architecture of AI-enabled capabilities across the P&P software delivery lifecycle. You will work with product teams and domain experts to design, review and guide implementation of end-to-end AI-powered solutions in a complex logistics environment.

The role requires strong architectural skills, experience with AI, APIs and cloud-native platforms, and a hands-on approach to ensure quality, security and operational

Qualifications

• Substantial experience as an AI Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Lead or Principal Engineer delivering AI-enabled software in complex enterprise environments.
• Proven experience leading AI development and testing teams through design, implementation, validation, release and operational handover.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to influence decisions and explain complex AI and architecture topics clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own and communicate the end-to-end architecture vision for AI-enabled P&P solutions, from concept through production and continuous improvement.
• Steer multidisciplinary AI development and testing teams by setting clear technical direction, resolving ambiguity and enabling effective collaboration.
• Partner with product owners, domain experts, enterprise and solution architects, developers, testers, security specialists and operations teams.
• Translate strategic initiatives, product backlogs, customer journeys and feature ideas into architecture decisions and executable delivery roadmaps.
• Design reusable AI assets, reference architectures, integration patterns, guardrails, evaluation approaches and playbooks aligned with DHL and Agent Friday standards.

Our P&P AI SQUAD is expanding to support AI-empowered, feature-driven software development tailored to Post & Parcel requirements. This role is embedded directly within P&P Solutions, working alongside product teams and domain experts to apply AI to real business-critical software and delivery challenges: you will work directly with product teams and domain experts to accelerate business-critical software in areas such as End Customer Solutions, Billing Solutions, Mobile Solutions, Customer Touchpoint Solutions, Self Service Solutions, Store Solutions, Pension Solutions, Production, Transport and Business Intelligence.

You will lead the architecture and technical direction of AI-enabled capabilities across the P&P software delivery lifecycle. Working in a co-creation model, you will help product teams move from opportunity identification and requirements through solution design, engineering, testing, release and continuous improvement. You will establish reusable patterns, guardrails, solution blueprints and engineering practices for Copilot, AI agents and approved AI tooling. Product teams remain accountable for business value, backlog priorities, acceptance, quality and compliance, while you ensure that architecture decisions are coherent, transparent and suitable for enterprise delivery.

Working model

The P&P AI SQUAD combines senior AI expertise with P&P product and software expertise. The AI Solution Architect provides architecture leadership, technical direction, communication and cross-team alignment. AI experts and product teams implement solutions together, while product teams retain ownership of business value, backlog priorities, delivery commitments, acceptance, quality and compliance. The architect enables consistency and reuse without disconnecting delivery from the P&P domain context.

What You Do

• Own and communicate the end-to-end architecture vision for AI-enabled P&P solutions, from concept through production and continuous improvement.
• Steer multidisciplinary AI development and testing teams by setting clear technical direction, resolving ambiguity and enabling effective collaboration.
• Partner with product owners, domain experts, enterprise and solution architects, developers, testers, security specialists and operations teams.
• Translate strategic initiatives, product backlogs, customer journeys and feature ideas into architecture decisions and executable delivery roadmaps.
• Design reusable AI assets, reference architectures, integration patterns, guardrails, evaluation approaches and playbooks aligned with DHL and Agent Friday standards.
• Define how Copilot, AI agents and approved AI tooling integrate with applications, APIs, data, CI/CD, testing, documentation, knowledge management and operations.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, challenge assumptions constructively and make trade-offs across value, quality, security, privacy, compliance, performance, cost and maintainability.
• Establish an AI testing and evaluation approach covering expected behaviour, reliability, security, performance, model limitations, regression risks and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Ensure responsibilities, decision points, risks and dependencies are visible and understood by technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Coach team members, strengthen architecture and engineering capability, and enable sustainable ownership within P&P product teams.
• Demonstrate outcomes through transparent measures such as delivery acceleration, quality improvement, reuse, operational stability and reduced manual effort.

• Substantial experience as an AI Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Lead or Principal Engineer delivering AI-enabled software in complex enterprise environments.
• Proven experience leading or technically steering AI development and testing teams through design, implementation, validation, release and operational handover.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to influence decisions and explain complex AI and architecture topics clearly to diverse audiences.
• Deep understanding of generative AI, agentic AI, AI-assisted software engineering, model integration, prompt and context design, evaluation and responsible AI controls.
• Strong software and solution architecture foundation, including APIs, event-driven and integration patterns, cloud-native platforms, data flows, security, observability and production operations.
• Profound knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, test strategy, quality engineering and secure software development.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into solution options, architecture blueprints, prototypes and pragmatic implementation plans.
• Working knowledge of privacy, compliance, threat modelling, model limitations, human oversight and operational risk management for AI solutions.
• Strong facilitation, stakeholder management, conflict resolution and decision-making skills across distributed, cross-regional teams.
• Hands‑on mindset and sufficient engineering depth to review designs, guide implementation, assess quality and support teams when challenges arise.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize across competing demands and maintain clarity under time and workload pressure. Experience that will help you stand out
• Experience in logistics, postal, parcel, retail, billing, customer‑facing digital channels or mobile application domains.
• Familiarity with P&P concepts such as customer journeys, touchpoints, Packstation/Poststation, billing and finance, mobile applications, pension services, production, transport or BI solutions.
• Experience designing agent-based workflows, retrieval-augmented solutions, enterprise knowledge experiences or AI-enabled developer tooling.
• Experience establishing AI architecture governance, reusable assets, engineering guardrails, evaluation frameworks or communities of practice.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, infrastructure as code, application security, performance engineering and observability.
• Experience leading architecture across multiple products or teams while balancing common standards with product-specific needs.
