Job summary

Eurofins Genomics is seeking an AI Architect to lead the AI transformation for its global software platforms (LIMS, eCommerce, ERP). You will own the AI strategy, architecture, and governance, advancing AI-enabled software development and reducing total cost of ownership.

About Eurofins Genomics

Eurofins Genomics is an internationally leading provider of DNA sequencing, genotyping, DNA synthesis and bioinformatics services for the pharma, diagnostics, food, agriculture, biotech and research markets, with facilities across Europe, the US and Asia.

Eurofins Genomics is making a AI transformation— and we are looking for the person who will lead it. As AI Lead / Architect, you will own the AI strategy and architecture for an entire global business line, with a clear mandate: lift software-engineering productivity, shorten time-to-market for new services, and meaningfully reduce the total cost of ownership of IT to Business.

You will set the technical direction, prove it with working systems, and influence Eurofins’ group-wide AI roadmap. This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports: you lead through technical depth and influence, not a reporting line. The centre of gravity is software engineering — applying AI across the software delivery lifecycle and our product platforms (LIMS, eCommerce, ERP) with a roadmap to influence deep genomic science. You will architect and prototype, set the patterns others build on, and lift the wider team’s AI capability through hands‑on mentorship.

What you’ll own

• The AI strategy and roadmap for the Genomics business, aligned to measurable productivity, time-to-market and TCO outcomes.
• Engineering Productivity Transformation to establish and scale AI-assisted software engineering (ADLC) practices to improve efficiency, delivery velocity, and software quality across Development continuum.
• Raising the engineering team’s AI capability — through reusable patterns, hands‑on mentorship and leading by example; by influence, not a reporting line.
• AI governance, security, compliance and responsible-AI practice — Define standards, guardrails, and KPIs to ensure responsible AI adoption and measurable business value
• A prioritised portfolio of AI use cases, chosen for business value and feasibility, taken from idea to production across the Software Engineering, Architecture, Knowledge Management and Operations.

What you’ll do

• Define and execute the AI roadmap, and translate business objectives into a concrete delivery plan with focus on reducing the Total cost of ownership of IT to Business.
• Establish AI governance, establishing productivity metrics, track adoption, and report measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.
• Architect and prototype AI solutions — GenAI, agentic AI, RAG and classical ML — and set the patterns, guardrails and evaluation standards teams build on.
• Drive adoption of AI-powered automation across the software delivery lifecycle and scientific workflows by coaching and enabling teams to think AI first in their daily work.
• Prototype and scale AI solutions by evaluating emerging AI technologies, developing Proof of concept and demonstrating successful AI use cases.
• Partner with development leaders, product owners, architects and business stakeholders to deliver capabilities end‑to‑end.
• Represent Genomics in Eurofins’ organisation‑wide AI programme — contributing to, learning from and influencing the group roadmap.
• Present roadmaps, business cases and value‑realisation metrics to senior leadership.

What we’re looking for

Must have

• 12–16 years overall experience in software/data engineering, Architecture, Technology Leadership and Digital Transformation roles, with 3+ years leading AI, ML or data‑science initiatives.
• A track record delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions to production — not just pilots.
• Deep, current expertise in Generative AI and LLMs, and AI assisted software development practices.
• Strong solution-architecture skills on cloud-native platforms, plus ML fundamentals, prompt engineering and evaluation techniques.
• Hands‑on experience with AI platforms such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of modern Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, Cloud, and Engineering Productivity metrics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence teams without direct authority.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or equivalent practical experience from institute of pedigree.

Nice to have

• Knowledge graphs and vector databases at scale.
• LLMOps / MLOps, AI cost‑optimisation (FinOps for AI) and production observability.
• Exposure to regulated or life‑sciences environments (GxP, data privacy, LIMS) is a small plus — but genomics domain knowledge is not required.
