Job summary

Optum India is seeking a senior AI/ML engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions and intelligent automation that drive measurable business outcomes. You will prototype and scale Generative AI, Agentic AI, and analytics, partnering with cross-functional teams to translate high-value use cases into production-ready AI systems.

You will establish best practices, governance, and responsible AI controls, while mentoring engineers and guiding solution design

Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions, digital workers, and intelligent automation capabilities that drive measurable business outcomes and operational efficiency
• Rapidly prototype, validate, and scale emerging AI technologies (Generative AI, Agentic AI, automation, orchestration, and analytics) to address enterprise transformation opportunities
• Partner with business, architecture, engineering, and operations teams to identify high-value use cases and translate them into production-ready AI solutions
• Establish and promote AI engineering best practices, reusable frameworks, governance standards, and responsible AI controls to accelerate enterprise adoption
• Serve as a transformation catalyst by evaluating disruptive technologies, driving innovation pilots, and building strategic capabilities that position the organization for future-state digital operations
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML, automation, cloud engineering, or digital transformation, with a demonstrated track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying Generative AI, Agentic AI, LLM-based applications, intelligent agents, digital workers, automation platforms, or advanced analytics solutions
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise platforms, business workflows, data platforms, and operational systems to deliver measurable business outcomes
• Solid proficiency in Python, APIs, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, DevSecOps, and observability
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams, mentor engineers, drive solution design decisions, and influence adoption of innovative technologies across teams
• Solid understanding of AI governance, Responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance, and risk management requirements in regulated enterprise environments
