Job summary

Optum India is seeking experienced AI/ML Engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions that tackle complex business challenges. Requirements include 5+ years in software engineering, 3+ years with Java/Python/Angular, 2+ years on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and 2+ years in Agile teams.

Communicate and present complex analytics results and concepts to leadership and internal stakeholders. Employee AI and/or ML that may include natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), semantic understanding, intent classification, computer vision, deep learning, and automatic speech recognition (ASR). Applies deep learning technologies to give computers that capability to visualize, learn and respond to complex situations. May adapt machine learning to areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience. Work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems. Employees in this role are expected to apply knowledge of experimental methodologies, statistics, optimization, probability theory and machine learning using code for tool building, statistical analysis, using both general purpose software and statistical languages. AI/ML Applied Scientists specialize in advancing and applying artificial intelligence through research-driven, experimental research, and translate research findings into practical AI solutions for the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on the responsible use of technology
• Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools and developer assistants to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and drive continuous improvement
• Evaluate emerging trends, modern frameworks, and advanced tools to inform software solution design and strategic innovation
• Collaborate as an active team player with cross-functional engineering, product, and business partners to build scalable and high-performance applications
• Adapt proactively to rapid changes in the technology landscape, integrating modern developer tools and agentic capabilities into engineering practices
• Lead and participate in architecture design reviews, system planning, and security evaluations
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to associate and junior software engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex software systems across multiple environments
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
• Analyzes and investigates

Required Qualifications
