Power Tech Nexus is the product company of the Power Tech group. We build and run our own AI-driven software products for businesses in Australia and the region.

We are a small team growing deliberately, so every hire shapes how the product and the engineering practice turn out. As AI & Cloud Architect, you'll be the technical authority for the Nexus product platform, setting the architecture across Azure and AWS and across our AI stack, and stay close enough to the code to prove your designs

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering or architecture, including production AI.
• Azure and AWS architecture experience, including identity, networking, and security.
• Production experience designing LLM-based systems, including model access, retrieval, agents, evaluation, and cost control.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms that scale securely.
• Hands-on coding ability to build proofs of concept in Python, TypeScript, or similar.
• Track record of documenting and leading technical decisions, reviewing designs, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the target architecture for the product platform across Azure and AWS.
• Design the AI architecture covering model gateway, retrieval, agents, evaluation, and cost controls.
• Write architecture decision records and review significant designs before build.
• Build proofs of concept and reference implementations to de-risk decisions.
• Set engineering standards for security, identity, networking, and multi-tenancy.
• Ensure the platform scales securely and affordably with visible cloud and AI costs.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical hiring alongside the Managing Director.

• Designthe AI architecture, covering the model gateway, retrieval, agents, evaluation,and cost controls.
• Writearchitecture decision records, and review significant designs and changesbefore they are built.
• Buildproofs of concept and reference implementations to de-risk decisions, sodesigns are proven in code, not only on paper.
• Setengineering standards for security, identity, networking, and multi-tenancy.
• Makesure the platform scales securely and affordably as the product portfoliogrows, keeping cloud and AI costs visible and under control.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical hiring alongside the Managing Director.

Must-HaveSkills and Experience

• 10+years in software engineering or architecture, including recent years designingAI solutions that run in production.
• Architecturaldepth across both Azure and AWS, including identity, networking, and security.
• Productionexperience designing LLM-based systems, covering model access and routing,retrieval, agents, evaluation, and cost control.
• Experiencedesigning multi-tenant SaaS platforms that scale securely.
• Currenthands-on coding ability, enough to build proofs of concept and referenceimplementations yourself, in Python, TypeScript, or a comparable language.
• Atrack record of documenting and leading technical decisions, reviewing designs,and mentoring engineers.

DesirableSkills

• Arecognised cloud architecture certification such as Azure Solutions ArchitectExpert or AWS Solutions Architect Professional.
• Hands-onexperience with Azure OpenAI Service or AWS Bedrock, and with agent frameworksand protocols such as LangGraph or MCP.
• Experiencewith cloud cost management (FinOps) for AI workloads.
• Experiencein a product company or start-up growing from one product to a portfolio.
• Experienceleading technical hiring.

Education

A bachelor's degree in computerscience, information security, information technology, or a related field, orequivalent experience.
