ROLE: Assistant General Manager (AGM)_ Research & Development (ADAS & ARAS)

POSITION SUMMARY :
The AGM R&D (ADAS & ARAS) will be responsible for leading the development, validation, and deployment of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technologies and products. The role will drive product engineering, application engineering for Indian drive cycles, systems integration, and new technology development while ensuring alignment with customer requirements, automotive standards, and business objectives. The incumbent will lead a small engineering team of 15-20 engineers to begin with involved in application engineering, perception adaptation for Indian scenarios, sensor fusion for radars and cameras, embedded software, AI/ML, computer vision, controls, and vehicle integration.
Educational Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Robotics, or related discipline.
- M.Tech/MS in Automotive Electronics, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Vision, or equivalent preferred.
Ph.D. in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 815 years of experience in Automotive R&D, ADAS, Autonomous Driving, Automotive Software.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading engineering teams and complex product development programs.
- Experience working with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or automotive technology companies.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering ADAS or autonomous vehicle-related programs for Indian CV & PV OEMs.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. ADAS Application Engineering & Product Development
- Lead end-to-end development and adaptation of ADAS products and solutions from Sterlings partners for Indian drive cycles.
- Define product architecture, technology, roadmaps, and development strategies aligned with business goals.
- Adapt global products and platforms for below mentioned use cases aligned with AIS standards: Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) o Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) o Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) o Blind Spot Detection (BSD) o Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) o Surround View Systems o Parking Assistance Systems Moving Off Information Systems and BSIS
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
2. Systems Engineering & Architecture
- Lead system requirements definition, decomposition, and traceability management.
- Develop ADAS system architecture integrating sensors, controllers, software, and vehicle systems.
- Ensure compliance with automotive development frameworks and standards.
3. Software & Algorithm Development
- Guide development of perception, computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, and control algorithms.
- Oversee embedded software development and real-time system integration.
- Support AI/ML model development for object detection, tracking, and driver assistance applications.
- Ensure software quality, scalability, cybersecurity, and performance.
4. Functional Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with: ISO 26262 Functional Safety ASPICE Automotive Cybersecurity Standards
- Lead hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety case development. Drive implementation of safety-critical design practices throughout the product lifecycle.
5. Validation & Verification
- Establish robust testing and validation strategies.
- Oversee simulation, SIL, HIL, vehicle testing, and field validation activities.
- Ensure product reliability and performance under diverse operating conditions.
6. Project & Program Management
- Manage multiple ADAS development programs simultaneously.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, quality targets, and customer milestones.
- Drive effective resource planning and utilization.
7. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary technical interface with OEMs, Tier-1 customers, technology partners, and suppliers.
- Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and customer audits.
- Support business development initiatives through technical presentations and solution proposals.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams of Sterlings partners overseas.
8. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead multidisciplinary teams comprising systems engineers, software engineers, AI/ML specialists, validation engineers, and project managers.
- Build technical competencies and engineering excellence within the organization.
- Mentor future leaders and high-potential talent.
