Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers Limited is seeking a Specialist/Lead Piping Engineer to head piping engineering for Thermal and Combined Cycle projects. You will oversee pipe calculations, 3D model reviews, and equipment layout, while guiding a team to meet schedule and quality targets.

You will coordinate with Civil, Electrical and Mechanical teams, review 3D models in SP3D/E3D, and ensure piping deliverables align with project goals and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands on experience on Piping Calculation based on Piping Codes viz ASMEB31.1/IBR/AWWA/ASTM.
• Knowledge of Pipe Stress Analysis Software (Caesar/AutoPIPE), 3D routing.
• Experience with 3D tools such as SP3D/E3D; Navisworks/Smart Plan Review is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead Piping Engineering activities for Thermal/Combined Cycle Power Plant Projects including Pipe Calculations and Plot Plan Development.
• Prepare PMS and Piping RFQ; carry out Piping Layout & Equipment Layout tasks.
• Define appropriate Pipe Supports and review Stress Analysis models in 3D environment.
• Lead a team of Piping Designers/Engineers and ensure Schedule and Quality of deliverables.
• Coordinate with Civil, Electrical and Mechanical disciplines from a piping perspective.

Purpose & Scope of Position

Main responsibility is to work as Specialist Piping engineer/Lead Piping Engineer. Lead the team of Piping Engineering, Responsible for the Quality & Schedule of the delivery. Interaction with team members of other disciplines such as Process, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation & control. Interaction with Customer and vendors. Prepare enquiry specification for Piping systems and perform bid evaluation of bids, VDR etc. Review the piping layout on 3D environment, Piping Calculation and Piping deliverables.

Experience

Candidate shall have Hands on experience on Piping Calculation based on Piping Codes viz

ASMEB31.1/IBR/AWWA/ASTM etc, Pipe Route study of Critical Piping System and LP Piping

System, Knowledge of Pipe Stress Analysis Software (Caesar/Auto Pipe), Strong in Pipe & Valve

Material Selection, Knowledge of Non-Metallic Piping will be added advantage. Conversant in 3D

Review Software such as Navisworks/Smart Plan Review. Knowledge of 3D software such as SP3D / E3D. is an added advantage. Preparation of Procurement Specification of Piping & Specialities, Bid Evaluation and VDR. Site Experience as Field Engineering service resolving design related issues will be an added advantage.

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in mechanical engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible as Specialist Piping Engineer/ Lead Piping Engineer for Overall Piping Engineering activities related to Thermal/Combined Cycle Power Plant Projects such as Pipe Calculations, Preparation of PMS, Piping RFQ, Plot Plan Development, Piping Layout & Equipment Layout and carrying out Pipe Stress qualification and review the Stress Analysis model. Define the appropriate Pipe Supports for piping system. Shall independently review the piping models in 3D Environment. Working experience on 3D Tools (SP3D/E3D) would be added advantage. Candidate to lead team of Piping Designers/Engineers and responsible for the Schedule and Quality of the deliverables. As a Lead Engineer, the candidate shall be Customer Facing and perform interdisciplinary coordination and review the Civil Drawings/Electrical/Mechanical Drawings from Piping aspects and furnish necessary inputs to other disciplines.
