Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior Cloud Architect to lead cloud strategy, modernization, and enterprise architecture for complex healthcare solutions. You will design architectures, drive migration to Azure and AWS, and guide data engineering and AI initiatives within client environments.

The role requires 14+ years IT experience, strong consulting background, and deep knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of IT experience with at least 10 years in consulting for top firms.
• 10+ years in infrastructure design, architecture, or delivery.
• 5+ years of legacy modernization and cloud app modernization.
• 5+ years of Azure as primary cloud; 3+ years AWS or GCP.
• Experience designing AI agents and production AI in client environments.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, and PII in cloud deployments.
• Ability to create client-facing point-of-view documents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Cloud subject matter expert on cloud, EA, and related technologies.
• Lead complex, high-visibility projects and develop cloud strategy.
• Define architecture roadmaps for clients and modernize data platforms.
• Act as solution architect for cloud and data domains, including migrations.
• Prepare client-ready materials and present strategy to stakeholders.
• Deliver architecture solutions across public, private, or hybrid cloud.
• Ensure cloud security and regulatory compliance in healthcare.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Cloud subject matter expert on Cloud, Enterprise Architecture, and related technologies
• Deep experience in developing vision and leading complex and high visibility projects
• Develop cloud strategy, cloud data modernization strategy, architecture, and infrastructure roadmaps for client organizations
• Serve as solution architect for cloud and data domains, covering new application development and migration of existing infrastructure and applications to cloud
• Design and prepare client-ready materials and present to clients, or facilitate cloud strategy and architecture discussions with clients
• Generate architecture solutions leveraging public, private, or hybrid cloud deployment patterns
• Experience in cloud automation, cloud monitoring, and cloud optimization

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, or related fields
• 14+ years of experience in IT, with at least 10 years in consulting with top 4 consulting organizations
• 10+ years of overall IT experience in infrastructure management, application design, architecture, or application delivery
• 8+ years of digital transformation experience across broad business areas and lines of business
• 5+ years of legacy modernization and cloud application modernization experience
• 5+ years of experience on Azure cloud as primary
• 3+ years on AWS or GCP
• Deep experience in areas adjacent to cloud including data engineering, AI, and process improvement
• Experience in designing and implementing production AI applications within customer environments and identifying repeatable deployment patterns
• Experience in designing and implementing AI agents, sub-agents, tools and agentic workflows
• Familiarity with sales processes and opportunity tracking and management
• Familiarity with latest trends in cloud and their relevance and use in healthcare
• Broad understanding of cloud-based security solutions and familiarity with healthcare-specific regulatory requirements including HIPAA, PHI, and PII
• Demonstrated ability to prepare point-of-view documents and other client-facing assets
