Job summary

Optum India is seeking an experienced AI-first engineer to deliver hands-on AI-enabled software within an agile team. You will build, operate, and scale a production AI platform and automation capabilities to enhance resilience and performance.

The role requires 4+ years of software development using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages, with Kubernetes or Nomad experience and cloud exposure (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years practical software development experience with Python, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, Rust, or Go.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Nomad.
• Experience collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Experience building solutions in Agile environments and cloud-enabled stacks (Azure or AWS).
• Familiarity with AI workflows, LLMs and RAG pipelines.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on AI-first engineering within an agile team to build, operate, and scale a production AI platform and intelligent automation capabilities
• Drive continuous AI innovation to enhance platform resilience, security, and enterprise-scale performance
• Design and implement reusable services, tools, and automation to improve engineering productivity and enable new high-value use cases
• Advance team maturity in agile, DevOps, and AI engineering practices to accelerate delivery speed, quality, and business impact
• Lead by example in applying AI-enabled DevOps, rapidly delivering high-value solutions while shaping future platform capabilities and engineering standards Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years practical experience writing software with programming or scripting language such as: Python, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, Rust, or Go
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Nomad.
• Experience providing value while working with customers and technical resources on other teams.
• Experience designing and building technical solutions that solve business problems in an Agile environment.
• Experience with modern cloud-enabled software stacks and techniques, either Azure or AWS.
• Experience with AI workflows, LLMs and RAG pipelines; Claude, Codex, Copilot, AIDLC

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare information systems, healthcare data transactions and data types are beneficial
• Knowledge of Optum businesses, critical enterprise platforms, and their related technology needs is beneficial
• Knowledge of modern computer vision concepts and techniques are beneficial
• Proven solid written and verbal communications skills including creating documentation
• Demonstrated attention to detail and be organized
• Proven collaborative and not afraid to ask questions
