Job summary

HARMAN International (India) Private Limited is hiring an Advanced Embedded Software Engineer to design modular C/C++ components for Telematics Control Unit platforms running Embedded Linux.

You will work across connectivity domains (V2X, security, eCall) and OTA services, following ASPICE processes while collaborating with international teams and product owners to deliver scalable, configurable software for global OEM programs.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Embedded C/C++ and Embedded Linux software development.
• Good understanding of Linux device driver basics, multi-threading, IPC, and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with Git/GitHub/Gerrit, code reviews, and collaborative software development workflows.
• Ability to debug complex embedded software issues and perform effective root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Part Of

As a Advanced Engineer at HARMAN’s Automotive Connectivity Software Core Assets team, you will design and develop reusable, scalable embedded software components for Telematics Control Unit (TCU) platforms. You’ll work across key automotive connectivity domains including V2X, security, emergency call, vehicle connectivity, and platform services, building technologies that can be leveraged across multiple global OEM programs.

You’ll work with a product mindset - transforming complex customer and platform requirements into modular, configurable, plug-and-play software components that are easy to integrate, maintain, and scale across different vehicle programs.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Understand product owner’s requirements for various TCU software components and translate them into clear, reusable, and scalable software solutions.
• Analyze existing OEM requirements across customer programs to identify common features, reusable platform capabilities, and product-level design opportunities.
• Design and implement modular embedded software components using Embedded C/C++ on Embedded Linux-based TCU platforms.
• Work on platform areas such as connectivity, TCP/IP networking, V2X, eCall, security, diagnostics, OTA, and other TCU services.
• Apply ASPICE-aligned engineering practices, including requirement analysis, traceability, software design, implementation, code reviews, unit testing, and verification.
• Ensure software quality through debugging, root cause analysis, unit testing, issue fixing, and continuous improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use tools and workflows such as Git/GitHub/Gerrit, Make/CMake, shell scripting, Jira, Confluence, and CI/CD pipelines for efficient development and collaboration.
• Support integration of reusable software components into OEM customer programs by making them configurable, maintainable, and easy to configure and integrate.
• Guide and support team members through technical discussions, design reviews, issue analysis, implementation guidance, and best-practice adoption.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• Strong hands-on experience in Embedded C/C++ and Embedded Linux software development.
• Good understanding of Linux device driver basics, multi-threading, IPC, and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with Git/GitHub/Gerrit, code reviews, and collaborative software development workflows.
• Ability to debug complex embedded software issues and perform effective root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with Make/CMake build systems and Bash scripting for development and automation.
• Ability to understand requirements, design reusable software components, and ensure quality through reviews, traceability, unit testing, and verification.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills to work with product owners, architects, developers, QA, and customer-facing project teams.
• We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Experience with AUTOSAR fundamentals, automotive diagnostics such as UDS/DoIP, or automotive communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet, or SOME/IP.
• Hands-on exposure to Yocto build systems, Linux-based TCU platforms, or telematics software architecture.
• Knowledge of OTA software updates, MQTT/REST APIs, cloud integration, or connected vehicle service frameworks.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, Confluence, or Enterprise Architect for software development and documentation workflows.
• Working knowledge of ASPICE processes, including requirement traceability, design documentation, review practices, and verification activities.

Things To Know

• This role is based at HARMAN International (India) Private Limited, Salarpuria Sattva Knowledge Court (SSKC), Bangalore.
• The position follows a hybrid work model with three mandatory days in office each week to support effective collaboration, design discussions, whiteboarding, demos, and faster issue resolution.
• In-office collaboration is important for this role, as the work often requires close coordination with architects, developers, product owners, and integration teams.
• The role involves working with customer-facing project teams in India and other global locations to understand requirements, support integration, clarify technical topics, and resolve issues.
• The candidate should be comfortable participating in technical discussions, design reviews, debugging sessions, and cross-team sync-ups in a global engineering environment.
