Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking an Administrator (SAP/Linux) in Bangalore/Hyderabad for an entry-level role within Global Infrastructure & Cloud Managed Services. You will provide day-to-day SAP/Linux administration, health monitoring, and first-line operational support to ensure high system availability and SLA compliance.

You will work under supervision of senior Basis consultants and system engineers, handling routine tasks across SAP ERP landscapes and Linux environments.

• System Monitoring & Health Checks: Monitor SAP instances, work processes, background jobs, logs, and SAP transactions such as SM50, SM51, SM21, SM12, SM37.
• Linux OS Administration: Handle user management, file permissions, and OS patching; perform service restarts and cron maintenance.
• SAP Basis Operational Support: Manage client-level tasks like user provisioning, transport imports, and spool/print admin (SP01, SPAD).
• Incident Management & SLA Delivery: Log and track incidents in ITSM (ServiceNow) and coordinate with DB/network teams; ensure SLA compliance.

Role Summary

As an Administrator (SAP/Linux) at NTT DATA, you will be part of the Global Infrastructure & Cloud Managed Services team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, routine maintenance, health monitoring, and first-line operational support of enterprise Linux operating systems (RHEL/SUSE) and SAP application landscapes (ERP/ECC, S/4HANA, NetWeaver). You will work closely with senior Basis consultants and system engineers to ensure high system availability, performance stability, and strict SLA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Monitoring & Health Checks
   • Perform routine daily system health checks across SAP instances (work processes, background jobs, system logs, update requests, and lock entries via standard SAP transactions like SM50, SM51, SM21, SM12, and SM37).
   • Monitor Linux server performance metrics, including CPU utilization, RAM usage, disk I/O, paging space, and filesystem capacity using command-line utilities (top, htop, df -h, free -m, vmstat).
   • Track, acknowledge, and resolve automated alerts triggered by enterprise monitoring platforms (Nagios, Zabbix, SAP Solution Manager, or Datadog).
2. Linux Operating System Administration
   • Handle basic Linux user management, file permissions (chmod, chown), directory structures, and group management.
   • Assist in OS patching, service restarts, cron job maintenance, and standard system reboot procedures.
   • Troubleshoot basic system errors, network connectivity (SSH, ping, traceroute, netstat), and mount/NFS storage issues.
3. SAP Basis Operational Support
   • Assist with client-level operational tasks: user account provisioning, password unlocks, role assignments, and transport management system (TMS / STMS) imports across Dev, Quality, and Production environments.
   • Support regular spool and print request administration (SP01, SPAD) and clear output backlogs.
   • Perform routine SAP system startups, shutdowns, and background job scheduling as directed by runbooks and senior leads.
4. Incident Management & SLA Delivery
   • Log, update, and manage incidents and service requests in ITSM platforms like ServiceNow following ITIL guidelines.
   • Coordinate issue resolution with database administrators (HANA/Oracle), network teams, and hardware vendors for recurring or severe technical glitches.
   • Document shift handovers, operational checklists, troubleshooting steps, and incident post-mortems accurately.
