Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking Senior SAP Basis & Cloud Migration Architect to lead end-to-end migration of SAP landscapes to Microsoft Azure. You will design landing zones, manage OS/DB migrations, and ensure high availability and DR readiness across complex environments.

The role requires 10+ years in SAP Basis, 3-5 years in hyperscaler cloud migrations (Azure), and strong architectural leadership to deliver scalable, secure SAP on Azure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field.
• SAP Certified Technology Associate - System Administration or SAP Certified Technology Specialist - OS/DB Migration for SAP HANA.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure for SAP Workloads Specialty (AZ-120).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate on-premises landscape and size Azure resources (CPU/RAM) and optimize storage IOPS.
• Design Azure landing zones, VNets, subnets, ExpressRoute and NSGs for SAP traffic.
• Plan migration roadmaps, lift-and-shift, OS/DB migrations, and S/4HANA conversions (DMO).
• Lead export/import procedures and database migrations (AnyDB to HANA, Oracle to Azure SQL/HANA).
• Deploy SAP VMs, configure Azure Disks, ANF, and Azure Backup/ASR.
• Lead OS/DB migrations to SAP HANA on Azure using SAP SUM DMO.
• Architect Azure DB migrations using DMS, Log Shipping, or Always On.
• Configure Azure clustering, Windows Failover Clustering, and Linux Pacemaker.

We are currently seeking a SAP BASIS Administration to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).

SAP Basis administration with advanced cloud architecture , with 10+ years of experience should lead the end-to-end migration strategy, including pre-migration assessments, execution of the OS/DB migration using DMO or SWPM, and the setup of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) on the Azure platform.

Role Overview

Title: Senior SAP Basis & Cloud Migration Architect
Experience Required: 10+ years in SAP Basis; at least 3-5 years focused on hyperscaler cloud migrations (specifically Azure).
Lead the technical architecture, planning, and successful execution of migrating complex on-premises SAP landscapes (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PI/PO) to Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the existing on-premises landscape to tshirt sizing, calculate Azure CPU/RAM requirements, and optimize storage throughput (IOPS). Design highly available Azure landing zones, virtual networks (VNets), subnets, ExpressRoute configurations, and network security groups (NSGs) for SAP traffic. Formulate migration roadmaps, mapping out lift-and-shift, OS/DB migrations, or brownfield/greenfield S/4HANA conversions using tools like Software Update Manager (SUM) with Database Migration Option (DMO).

Lead export/import procedures and database migrations (e.g., AnyDB to HANA, Oracle to Azure SQL/HANA).Deploy SAP VMs, configure Azure Managed Disks, Azure NetApp Files, and Azure Backup/ASR (Azure Site Recovery).Lead OS/DB migrations from on-premises MS SQL Server or AnyDB to SAP HANA on Azure using SAP SUM DMO.Architect migrations for MS SQL workloads using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), Log Shipping, or Always On Availability Groups.Design optimal Azure Managed Disks (Premium SSD v2, Ultra Disk) and Azure NetApp Files (ANF) configurations for HANA KPIs and SQL Server log/data files.

Configure Azure-native clustering, Windows Failover Cluster, and Linux Pacemaker with Azure Fence Agents for zero-downtime tolerance.Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or configuration automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Ansible, or Python.

Analyze system usage to right-size Azure VMs, start/stop automation, and manage Reserved Instances/Savings Plans to reduce TCO.

Manage SAP HANA backup/recovery, Hana System Replication (HSR), tenant databases (MDC), delta merges, and memory management.

Optimize MS SQL Server configurations, database consistency checks (DBCC), transaction log management, and index rebuilds.

Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks using SAP DBACOCKPIT, HANA Studio, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and Azure Monitor.

Technical Skills Required

• SAP Tooling: SAP SUM DMO, SWPM, Migmon/R3load, DBACOCKPIT, and HANA Cockpit.
• MS SQL Stack: SSMS, SQL Server Agent, Always On, and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• Azure Native Services: Azure Backup for SAP HANA, Azure Backup for SQL Server, and Azure Site Recovery (ASR).

Standard Basis Operations

• Manage complex transport management systems (TMS), client copies, system refreshes, and support pack stacks.
• Manage third-party integrations, SAP Cloud Connector setups, and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) SSO mapping.

Deep proficiency in Linux (RHEL/SUSE) and Windows Server environments, with strong SQL/HANA database administration skills.
