Job summary

ABB Bangalore seeks a seasoned Accounting & Reporting Specialist focused on Lease Accounting. You will ensure compliant reporting under IFRS 16 and ASC 842, lead end-to-end lease processes, and support audits. The role reports to the GA manager within a global finance team.

You will review lease data, manage month-end close, and drive process improvements with automation tools. A strong background in lease accounting and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting/finance or commerce.
• 8–10 years’ lease accounting and RTR GA experience.
• Experience in leading teams in global/shared service environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end lease accounting processes for global entities.
• Ensure IFRS 16/ASC 842 compliance and accurate financial reporting.
• Review classifications, calculations, remeasurements, modifications, terminations.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closes and SOX controls.

In this role you will be primarily responsible for End-to-End Lease Accounting Process as Accounting & Reporting Specailist, or team focused on the complete, accurate, and timely completion of Lease Accounting & Reporting and related activities within the General Accounting (GA) team. Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.The work model for the role is: OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Finance Business FunctionYou will be mainly accountable for:Lease Accounting OperationsSupport end-to-end lease accounting activities for global entities.Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of lease contracts in compliance with IFRS 16 and/or ASC 842.Review lease classifications, calculations, remeasurements, modifications, and terminations.Validate right-of-use (ROU) assets and lease liability calculations.Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end lease accounting close activities.Monitor lease capitalization and amortization schedules.Financial Reporting & ComplianceEnsure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements.Prepare and review lease-related journal entries, reconciliations, and financial disclosures.Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and explanations.Maintain SOX and compliance controls related to lease accounting processes.Team LeadershipAllocate workloads and monitor team performance against KPIs and SLAs.Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans.Cultivate an environment centered on ongoing improvement and operational excellence.Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with business units, real estate teams, procurement, legal, and controllers.Act as the primary point of contact for lease accounting matters.Support global finance and business stakeholders with accounting guidance.Manage escalations and resolve complex accounting issues.Process Improvement & AutomationIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency through standardization and automation.Direct system improvement efforts and process transformation initiatives.Support implementation and optimization of lease accounting tools (CoStar, Trintech Cadency).Develop and maintain process documentation and SOPs.Governance & ControlsEnsure adherence to financial controls and company policies.Monitor aging items, reconciliation exceptions, and control failures.Track and report operational metrics to management.Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)A master’s degree in accounting, Finance or Commerce (MBA/Mcom).Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in Lease Accounting and Record to Report GA.Deep understanding of IFRS 16, ASC 842, and financial reporting standards.Experience leading teams in a shared service, GBS, or multinational environment.Deep familiarity with Tririga, SAP, CFIN, and Costar.More about us (Mandatory)ABB Finance is a reliable business partner and a highly skilled team that delivers forward-looking insights, supports sustainable long-term results, and operates to the highest standardsWe look forward to receiving your application (documents submitted in English are appreciated).
