Job summary

Elevate Consulting in Ahmedabad is seeking a cost accountant to monitor project costs, manage general ledger entries, and support monthly cost reporting for a US-based construction contracting business.

You will coordinate with project managers and finance teams across time zones, ensure GST and TDS compliance in India, and maintain records for audits. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on accounting or cost accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Tally ERP, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, cost tracking templates).
• Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and Indian accounting standards.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Cost Accountant to join our Ahmedabad office. You will support financial tracking, cost analysis, and accounting operations for our US-based construction contracting business, working in close coordination with project managers and senior leadership across time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Track and analyze project-wise costs, budgets, and variances on an ongoing basis
• Maintain accurate books of accounts general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
• Process accounts payable and receivable; reconcile vendor and subcontractor invoices against project budgets
• Assist in preparation of monthly P&L statements, cost reports, and financial summaries
• Support payroll processing and coordination with HR
• Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and applicable Indian accounting regulations
• Coordinate with the US operations team on project cost tracking and budget reporting
• Maintain organized financial records for audits and internal reviews
• Prepare ad hoc reports and cost breakdowns as requested by management

Required Qualifications

• B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) or CMA (Inter/Final) preferred
• 2–5 years of hands-on accounting or cost accounting experience
• Proficiency in Tally ERP, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, cost tracking templates)
• Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and Indian accounting standards
• Good written and spoken English — ability to communicate with US-based team
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Prior experience supporting a construction, infrastructure, or project-based company
• Exposure to foreign currency transactions or basic US GAAP concepts
• Experience with cloud-based tools such as QuickBooks Online or Zoho Books
