Job summary

Iron Mountain Bangalore is seeking an Accountant (P2) to manage general accounting, AP and inventory reconciliations in a global, shared services setting.

  • Job Description Summary: The Accountant (P2) performs general accounting activities to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of Iron Mountain’s financial records. This role requires a solid working knowledge of accounting disciplines to prepare journal entries, perform ledger reconciliations, and actively manage transactional activities, including Accounts Payable (AP) ledger monitoring and inventory reconciliations. Operating with a moderate level of guidance, the successful candidate will work on accounting assignments of moderate scope, exercise sound judgment to actively analyze and resolve problems, and collaborate with global, remote teams across multiple time zones in a shared service, matrixed environment.

  • Key Accountabilities

  • Core Accounting & Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and book journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations to support accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

  • Accounts Payable Ownership: Own the day-to-day AP ledger. Responsibilities include posting AP invoices, tracking aging balances, and proactively resolving discrepancies to ensure balances do not age.

  • Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory accounts and review monthly inventory reports to ensure data integrity and resolve any variances.

  • Month-End Close Support: Actively participate in the month-end close process, ensuring all assigned tasks and relevant reporting are completed promptly and within US reporting deadlines.

  • Audit & SOX Compliance: Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary schedules. Monitor SOX controls compliance and ensure adherence to established finance policies and procedures.

  • Problem Solving & Process Support: Analyze operational problems, identify variances, and actively work with management to resolve issues and implement process changes to reduce financial misstatement risks.

  • Cross-Functional & Remote Collaboration: Partner effectively with colleagues, operations, and finance team members located in remote locations and across different time zones.

  • Team Contribution: Provide informal guidance to newer team members as they onboard.

  • Special Projects: Provide ad-hoc financial and operational support on special projects (such as integration support or audits) as assigned by your manager.

  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional accounting experiencein a similar position, including experience providing financial accounting support.

  • Technical Knowledge:

  • Expanded knowledge of general ledger accounting, AP processes, and inventory control.

  • Sound, up-to-date knowledge ofUS GAAPandInternational Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, withadvanced proficiency in Excel.

  • Core Competencies:

  • Attention to Detail:Excellent organizational skills with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity

  • Communication:Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present analysis, concepts, and findings to team members and management.

  • Relationship Building:Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and build strong working relationships across remote, global offices.

  • Certifications (Preferred)

  • Part-qualified or actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA, or local equivalent) is highly preferred
