Core Servicesis a multidisciplinary team supporting businesses through essential accounting,compliance, assurance, and transformation needs. The team delivers Audit andAssurance, Bookkeeping, Compilation Engagements, and Corporate Tax services.Selected candidates will join at the Associate level and may be aligned to oneor more service areas based on their education, experience, technicalcapabilities, French proficiency, and business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop technicalskills and knowledge across Audit and Assurance, Bookkeeping, CompilationEngagements, Accounting, and Corporate Tax.
- Support thepreparation and review of financial statements, working papers, schedules, andrelated engagement documentation.
- Assist with auditand assurance engagements by performing assigned testing, documentation,financial analysis, and follow-up procedures.
- Perform bookkeepingactivities, including recording financial transactions, maintaining generalledgers, reconciling accounts, and supporting period-end close activities.
- Prepare Canadian T2corporate tax returns and other related tax filings, where applicable.
- Manage multipleclient files and assignments simultaneously while meeting established timelinesand quality standards.
- Summarize clients’current financial status by collecting information and preparing balancesheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Review, investigate,and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents,and reports.
- Establish charts ofaccounts and prepare journal entries for posting to accounts.
- Categorize financialdata for use in data analytics and prepare related client deliverables.
- Build competenciesin data analytics reporting and identify opportunities for relevant clientsadvisory services.
- Preparecorrespondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentationsoutlining engagement findings, facts, and key highlights.
- Communicateprofessionally with French-speaking clients, engagement teams, and internalstakeholders.
- Collaborate withclient engagement teams and contribute to building effective workingrelationships with client contacts.
- Contribute toidentifying opportunities to improve internal processes and technologies andcollaborate with other internal teams on solutions.
Requirements
- French-languageproficiency at B2 or C1 level, supported by certification from a recognizedinstitution.
- Strong written andverbal communication skills in French and English.
- Ability to learn andadapt to new technologies, tools, processes, and software.
- Strong analytical,numerical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Ability to organizeand manage multiple assignments within established timelines.
- Customer serviceand/or client service orientation.
- Ability tocollaborate effectively in a team-based and client-focused environment.
- Willingness todevelop capabilities across Audit, Bookkeeping, Compilation, Accounting, andTax.
Technical Skills
- Foundationalunderstanding of accounting, auditing, taxation, bookkeeping, and financialreporting principles.
- Understanding ofbalance sheets, profit and loss statements, general ledgers, charts ofaccounts, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Exposure totaxation, tax return preparation, audit, bookkeeping, accounting, or financialreporting is preferred.
- Experience workingwith accounting, audit, bookkeeping, or tax software will be an advantage.
- Basic understandingof business, accounting, management, and professional services principles.
- Basic understandingof data analytics and its application within accounting and financialreporting.
- Previous internshipor work experience in accounting, audit, bookkeeping, finance, ortaxation-related environment will be considered an asset.
- Experience withCanadian accounting, audit, bookkeeping, or taxation processes, advantageousbut not mandatory.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, BusinessAdministration, or a related discipline.
- Candidates pursuingor holding professional accounting qualifications may also be considered.
- French-language certification at B2 or C1level from a recognized institution.
