Job summary

ALS is seeking XRF Laboratory Assistants to join our European hub lab in Loughrea, Co. Galway. We provide full training with no prior laboratory experience required, and you will work as part of a diverse team to support geochemical analyses and data management.

Responsibilities include following safety rules, handling samples, maintaining records per ISO 17025, and ensuring accurate identification and documentation of materials. Opportunities exist to grow within a collaborative lab environment.

Qualifications

• Full or partial secondary education with the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Previous laboratory experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and practices at all times.
• Wear protective equipment specified for each task.
• Report any suspicious, hazardous, or improvement opportunities to your supervisor.
• Perform work as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or supervisor and report completion.
• Follow written or oral instructions; use written procedures when available.
• Check and maintain order of samples and their identification; report deviations.
• Handle samples to preserve identification and prevent loss or contamination; report accidents.
• Monitor quality, note anomalies, and report to Supervisor as needed.
• Complete records and forms; sign/initial records.
• Operate equipment per manuals and safety rules; check calibration status daily or before use; report anomalies.
• Carry improvements ideas to Laboratory Manager or Quality Manager.
• Complete all required records per ISO 17025 and INAB requirements.
