Want your engineering to make a visible difference to clean water and healthy rivers? EPS Group designs, builds, operates and maintains water and wastewater infrastructure for local authorities and leading food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical companies. We're growing our Tendering & Design team in the Northwest and are looking for a Tendering Engineer to join us at our regional office in Ballyhaunis.
About the Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you'll turn client specifications into competitive, well-engineered solutions for water, wastewater and pumping projects across the municipal and industrial markets. Most of the work is process, mechanical, electrical and ICA, with minor civils. You won't just hand over a tender and move on: you'll support your projects into delivery, so you'll see your designs built, commissioned and handed over.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents and interpret specifications to understand what the client really needs
- Develop designs and bills of materials that deliver accurate, value-for-money solutions
- Help coordinate the production of P&IDs and layout drawings for tender submissions
- Visit client sites to scope out works and help develop the right solutions
- Work with suppliers to develop modern, efficient and innovative solutions
- Prepare technical tender submissions, with the supporting H&S and quality documents
- Review commercial terms and conditions, and make sure submissions meet client specifications and scope
- Build project programmes that cover every interface, from design through to commissioning and handover
- Meet clients regularly, and plan and lead technical meetings with clients and consulting engineers
- Support the delivery team with design, procurement and client coordination, working with our HSQE team on safety and quality
- Write engineering reports, method statements and commissioning schedules

- Proficiency in PC skills.

- Strong commercial understanding of contracting deliverables.
- Strong collaborative skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Have a willingness to learn and be challenged in the water and wastewater Industry.
- Have proven experience in a similar design & engineering role in a Mechanical & Electrical environment.
- Experience in implementing opportunities and initiatives in a time restricted schedule.
- Organise and plan technical meetings with clients and Consulting Engineers.
- Develop specific goals and plans to prioritise, organise and accomplish stated deadlines.
- Project management / Site management / M&E Installation, Personnel Management and any Water &/or Wastewater industry experience will be an advantage.
What you'll bring
- A third-level degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, or a similar relevant qualification
- 2-5 years' experience in a design engineering or tendering role in an M&E environment
- Good commercial awareness of contracting deliverables, and the ability to plan your work around tight tender deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication skills, and you enjoy working as part of a team
- Confidence with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project.
- A full clean driving licence and a valid Safe Pass
