Job summary

Keohane Seafoods in Bantry, County Cork, seeks a Warehouse Controller to manage day-to-day operations of a newly built warehouse, including a -18°C cold store and ambient packaging area. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong stock control and strict adherence to food safety standards.

The successful candidate will handle receipt, storage and dispatch of goods, perform routine stock counts, and ensure accurate records while maintaining HACCP/compliance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse experience, ideally within food manufacturing or distribution.
  • Experience working in cold store and/or ambient warehouse environments.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good IT skills and experience using stock management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to food safety and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the frozen (-18°C) cold store and ambient packaging warehouse.
  • Receive, inspect, store and issue packaging materials, ingredients and finished goods.
  • Maintain accurate stock records using the company's inventory management system.
  • Carry out routine stock counts and investigate stock discrepancies.
  • Ensure stock is stored correctly and rotated using FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
  • Prepare materials for production and customer dispatch in line with operational requirements.
  • Monitor and record cold store temperatures and ensure products are stored under the correct conditions.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and organisation throughout the warehouse.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, quality and health & safety procedures.
  • Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Liaise with Production, Purchasing, Quality and Logistics teams to ensure the timely movement of stock.
  • Report stock shortages, damaged goods or operational issues to management.
  • Support warehouse audits and maintain accurate warehouse documentation.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and organisation.

Job Summary

The Warehouse Controller is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of a newly built warehouse comprising a frozen cold store (-18°C) and an ambient packaging warehouse within a food manufacturing environment. Working independently, the successful candidate will ensure the safe receipt, storage, stock control, and issue of goods while maintaining high standards of food safety, housekeeping, and inventory accuracy. This is a hands‑on role requiring excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage warehouse activities efficiently.

What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Previous warehouse experience, ideally within the food manufacturing or food distribution sector.
  • Experience working in cold store and/or ambient warehouse environments.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good IT skills and experience using stock management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to food safety and safe working practices.
Desirable
  • Experience working within HACCP or BRCGS‑certified food environments.
  • Knowledge of ERP or warehouse management systems.
