Job summary

Jobtailor in Ireland is seeking a seasoned Virtualization and Automation Engineer to lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of virtualization platforms (VMware and Hyper‑V) across on‑prem and cloud‑integrated environments.

You will develop automation scripts in PowerShell and Python, mentor junior staff, ensure uptime, document security practices, and collaborate with management to align IT with business goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on experience architecting, deploying, and managing large‑scale virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper‑V, or equivalent).
• Advanced proficiency in scripting and automation, with demonstrable experience automating complex administrative tasks using PowerShell.
• Proven track record of leading virtualization projects from design through implementation and support, including migration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft networking technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP).
• Broad‑based knowledge of applications in the Microsoft ecosystem: backup technologies, database technologies, application servers, web servers, etc.
• Ability to document complex technical environments and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience with hybrid and multi‑cloud virtualization platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Experience integrating virtualization platforms with storage solutions (NetApp, SAN/NAS) and automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems.
• Technical design experience, especially in infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) tools and practices.
• Experience working on new technology projects as part of a coordinated project team.
• Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
