Job summary

Merck & Co. is offering an Operations Technical Specialist – Vaccines Intern position.

You will join a global, diverse team and work on projects that improve patient outcomes while gaining hands-on experience in pharmaceutical operations. You will support process operations, troubleshoot issues, contribute to safety and quality incidents, and apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement across Vaccines IPT.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Science or Engineering qualification or relevant discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical operations (manufacturing, technology, engineering, quality, analytical).
• Demonstrated delivery of a section of a process / technical project.
• Problem solving skills.
• Working and collaboration across multiple functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support department and site level activities requiring process and operational knowledge.
• Support process operations including troubleshooting technical and process related issues.
• Identify, raise and close Safety and Quality incidents.
• Support cross-functional problem-solving teams for investigations within Vaccines IPT and across the site.
• Support and lead material management and troubleshooting with a cost focus.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
• Represent the department on cross-functional project teams.
• Drive continuous improvement and perform root cause analysis on system failures (e.g., FMEA, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
• Ensure adherence to Safety, Quality and Cost standards.
