Job description

Title: UX Engineer Location: Galway (Hybrid)

Ministry Brands is a leading provider of SaaS operational management systems, payments platforms, digital engagement tools and background screening solutions for purpose-driven organisations. We serve more than 95,000 customers as a trusted partner in digital transformation and enablement – advancing missions, driving efficiencies, and building engaged communities for more than four decades.

Our Galway R&D centre is Ministry Brands' global AI R&D hub and is in the middle of a major expansion as we deliver a multi-year AI-native transformation of our product portfolio.

About The Role

We’re looking for a hands‑on UX Engineer (Individual Contributor) to join our growing Product and Engineering organization as a core member of an Agile team. This role sits directly at the intersection of user experience design and front‑end engineering, enabling you to actively plan, scope, and implement features, taking ideas from research and wireframes all the way through to polished, production‑ready code. You’ll work side‑by‑side with Product Managers, UX Designers, Software Engineers, and key stakeholders in iterative sprints to deliver intuitive, accessible, and high‑performance experiences across our SaaS platform. Beyond feature delivery, you will help establish design system standards, build reusable UI component libraries, and ensure our products maintain a consistent, modern experience, all while embracing AI‑powered development tools and design workflows. If you thrive in an Agile environment, enjoy taking technical ownership of user‑facing features, and love blending design thinking with production code, we’d love to hear from you.

What you will do
  • Design intuitive, user‑centred experiences for web and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into elegant solutions.
  • Create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, mock‑ups, and high‑fidelity UI designs.
  • Build and maintain reusable front‑end components using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately and consistently.
  • Contribute to and maintain our design system and component library.
  • Champion accessibility, usability, responsive design, and inclusive design best practices.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and analyse customer feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
  • Work with AI‑assisted design and development tools to improve productivity and accelerate design iteration.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Stay current with UX trends, emerging technologies, and front‑end best practices.
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in UX Engineering, Front‑End Development, Product Design, or a similar role.
  • Experience designing and building modern web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of UX principles, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
  • Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high‑fidelity designs using Figma (preferred) or similar design tools.
  • Strong front‑end development experience using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, and modern UI frameworks.
  • Experience working with component‑based design systems.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional Agile teams.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A portfolio demonstrating UX design and front‑end implementation work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Digital Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on SaaS products.
  • Experience with React Native or mobile‑first design.
  • Experience using design systems such as Material Design or custom enterprise design systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools such as Claude Design, Copilot, Figma AI, or similar technologies to accelerate design and development.
  • Understanding of design tokens, accessibility testing, and front‑end performance optimisation.
