Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment in Macroom, Ireland, is seeking an Utilities Engineer to lead site utility systems for a major greenfield project. You will own utilities, support design, installation, integration and commissioning, coordinating contractors to ensure milestones are met safely and on time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years in Utilities Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with general/black utilities and multiple utility systems.
  • Experience delivering utilities in greenfield or brownfield projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical owner and SME for general utilities across the site.
  • Support design, installation, integration, commissioning and qualification of utility systems.
  • Work across steam/boilers, chilled water, HVAC, compressed air, water/wastewater.
  • Coordinate contractors to meet milestones safely and on time.
  • Support FAT/SAT, performance testing, commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Troubleshoot utility performance issues during construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers and partners.
  • Support CAPEX planning, supplier management, documentation and handover to Operations and Maintenance.

About Your New Job

As the Utilities Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery and implementation of site utility systems for a major greenfield project.

  • You will act as a technical owner and subject matter expert for general utilities across the site.
  • You will support the design, installation, integration, commissioning and qualification of utility systems.
  • You will work across systems including steam and boilers, chilled water and refrigeration, HVAC and building services, compressed air, water and wastewater treatment and other site utilities.
  • You will manage and coordinate contractors to ensure project milestones are delivered safely and on time.
  • You will support FAT/SAT, performance testing, commissioning and final qualification activities.
  • You will troubleshoot utility performance issues during construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • You will work closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers and external engineering partners.
  • You will support CAPEX planning, supplier management, technical documentation and the final handover of utility systems to Operations and Maintenance.
What Skills You Need
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Utilities Engineering within food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, nutrition or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience across general/black utilities and multiple utility systems.
  • Previous experience delivering utilities within greenfield and/or brownfield projects.
  • Experience with systems such as steam and boilers, chilled water and refrigeration, HVAC and building services, compressed air, electrical power distribution and water/wastewater treatment.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors and external engineering partners.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a commissioning and start-up environment.
What’s on Offer
  • Fixed-term contract until the end of 2029, with the possibility of extension or a permanent opportunity in the future; however, this cannot be guaranteed at this stage.
  • 8% annual bonus, paid in March and prorated where applicable, with the potential to reach 14% based on performance.
