Job description

Danone Specialized Nutrition is launching a major greenfield investment to build our next‑generation liquid nutrition facility, requiring state of the art high environmental control, clean utility distribution, HVAC and building services to support aseptic and high‑hygiene production.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Ownership – Utilities: act as the technical owner for utilities requirements.
• Project Engineering – Execution & Commissioning: lead and or support utility related projects of greenfield installations; support installation, integration, commissioning and qualification (IQ, OQ & PQ); manage contractors; support FAT/SAT, performance testing, final environmental qualifications.
• Troubleshoot utility performance issues during construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: work closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, R&I, Maintenance, and Engineering.
• Support production during start‑up of process commissioning by ensuring uninterrupted utilities supply.
• Provide technical expertise and training to operators and technicians.
• Collaborate with EPCM partners, Utility consultants, and existing site team on utility operations, assess availability, generation, manage tie‑ins, layout conflicts, and commissioning plans.
• Support Utility and Automation teams on interdependent systems (BMS, SCADA, EMS).
• CapEx Support & Governance: support utility CapEx package scope, planning, reporting; provide technical input & support into cost/forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, and risk registers; support change control.
• Procurement & Supplier Management: support technical aspects of tenders for utility systems (URS, RFQ, technical bid evaluations, clarifications); partner with Regional Engineering and C&P for supplier selection and contract alignment; support OEM/vendor deliverables for documentation, training, spare parts, and commissioning.
• Standards, Compliance & Safety: support compliance with Danone Engineering Standards, GMP/HACCP and hygiene zoning rules, cleanroom and environmental control guidelines, local/European regulations & industry standards; embed safety principles in design and execution during installation and commissioning.
• Operational Readiness & Handover: support development/approval of utility‑related SOPs, environmental control procedures, preventive maintenance plans, spare parts lists; support creation of utilities master data in CMMS; ensure full technical handover to Operations and Maintenance, including training and validated documentation.
• Reporting & Decision Support: provide structured updates on utility progress, risks, commissioning readiness, and mitigation plans; provide technical insights to support strategic and operational decision‑making throughout project phases; use SCADA/BMS/EMS systems to monitor utilities performance; analyze data trends and develop improvement plans; prepare regular reports on system reliability, efficiency, and incidents.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or equivalent).
• Project Management Certification – advantageous.
• 5+ years of experience in utilities engineering in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, or nutrition manufacturing.
• Previous experience in utility delivery in greenfield or brownfield projects.
• Hands‑on experience with multiple utility systems; experience in energy management and system optimization preferred.
• Experience supporting and implementing utilities within a greenfield or brownfield environment.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers, contractors, and external engineering firms.
• Familiarity with systems such as Steam & Boilers, Chilled Water & refrigeration, HVAC & Building Services, Electrical Power Distribution, Compressed Air Systems, Water & Waste Water Treatment Systems.
• Interpretation of drawings, schematics, and models.
• Troubleshooting utility system performance.
• Familiarity with project management and CapEx processes.
• Clear communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Project Management skills and proactive continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration and ability to influence partners and suppliers.
