Job summary

Cpl Group in Ireland is seeking a Treasury Accountant to lead the preparation and review of financial reporting for treasury activities, including the National Debt of Ireland and related investment portfolios.

You will maintain robust controls, support statutory reporting, and drive process improvements within Treasury Operations and Reporting while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Third level degree in Finance, Accountancy or related discipline.
  • Experience in financial or treasury reporting meeting daily/month-end deadlines.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, CIMA or ACCA.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in audit or controls is advantageous.
  • Experience with system projects and user acceptance testing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly management reporting and reconciliations for the National Debt of Ireland and related accounts.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements for the National Debt of Ireland and related funds.
  • Develop and maintain reporting processes for the National Debt of Ireland including accounting policies and controls.
  • Manage internal and external audit for treasury activities.
  • Participate in project work and user acceptance testing alongside BAU tasks.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Job description

The Treasury Accountant will play a key role in the preparation and review of financial reporting for treasury-related activities, including the National Debt of Ireland and associated investment portfolios. The role involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, supporting statutory reporting requirements, and contributing to ongoing process improvement and project initiatives within Treasury Operations and Reporting.

More specifically, the role will involve:

Principal Accountabilities
  • Monthly management reporting and reconciliations for the National Debt of Ireland and other related accounts – including daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements of the National Debt of Ireland, Post Office Savings Bank Fund, the Dormant Accounts Fund and Social Insurance Fund (Investment Portfolio).
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting processes for the National Debt of Ireland including accounting policies, financial controls and reporting efficiencies.
  • Manage the efficient internal and external audit for all treasury activities.
  • Participate in regular project work and user acceptance testing delivered in parallel to the business-as-usual tasks within the treasury function.
  • Maintain and develop a strong working relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake additional treasury reporting and finance-related responsibilities as required.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Third level degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accountancy, Business or related discipline
  • Experience in a busy financial reporting, treasury reporting or reconciliation team, meeting daily or month-end deadlines, would be essential.
  • Candidate has completed a professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
  • Very good communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong audit or controls experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience of system projects and user acceptance testing would be an advantage.
  • The ability to adapt to the position quickly and a capability to maintain several concurrent tasks to a high standard.
  • Very good IT competency (MS Office & Excel).
