Job summary

Sysco Ireland is seeking a Transport Planner to develop and coordinate multi-drop deliveries to customers nationwide from our Dublin Distribution Centre. The role reports to the Operations Planning Manager and requires a proactive, detail‑oriented approach to optimise routes and costs.

The successful candidate will work with the Transport Department on planning processes, stock usage, and compliance with tachograph rules, contributing to an efficient, customer‑focussed service.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of transport planning and operational process is required.
  • Experience in the Logistics industry is required.
  • Proficient with Excel and IT to analyse numerical data.
  • Knowledge of tachograph rules (EU & UK) for goods vehicles.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and adaptability.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan multi-drop delivery routes for each driver to customers.
  • Utilise the company fleet effectively to reduce delivery costs.
  • Determine optimal truck space usage.
  • Coordinate with Transport Manager and Depot Managers on back haulage.
  • Monitor driver tachographs and ensure compliance with rules.
  • Track KPIs and report weekly/monthly delivery costings.
  • Review and improve routing and delivery efficiency.
  • Perform other transport-related ad hoc tasks.
