Job Summary

The Transport Planner & Customer Service Coordinator plays a key role within the transport function, with a strong emphasis on transport planning, routing, and operational coordination. The role is responsible for ensuring that all transport activities are efficiently planned, optimised, and executed, supporting the smooth and effective day-to-day running of transport operations.

The postholder will primarily focus on transport administration, system management, and coordination with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams, while managing customer interaction where required. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced transport environment.

Key Responsibilities

Transport Planning & Coordination

• Arrange and coordinate outbound deliveries in line with customer requirements and operational capacity.
• Enter and update transport jobs on internal systems, ensuring accuracy at all times.
• Act as a key point of contact for customers, handling queries, bookings, and pricing of transport jobs.
• Manage customer portals and ensure accurate and timely updates.
• Resolve delivery and collection issues efficiently while maintaining high customer service standards.

Administration & Cost Control

• Ensure all transport-related costs are accurately recorded and tracked.
• Update weekly billing details and support invoicing processes.
• Identify discrepancies in transport activities and follow up to resolution.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Operational Support & Problem Solving

• Identify issues early and respond in a timely and effective manner to minimise disruption.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure efficient operations.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Support continuous improvement in transport planning and processes.

Requirements

• Previous experience in transport planning or logistics.
• Good knowledge of vehicle scheduling and route planning.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
• Good attention to detail, particularly with transport costs, accruals and POs.
• Good computer skills and experience working with transport/planning systems.
• A practical, hands‑on approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRABLE)

• Qualification in logistics, transport, or business administration.
• Experience in FMCG, logistics, or distribution environments.
