Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Trade Counter Sales Person role based in Mungret. The role involves serving trade and DIY customers at the counter, providing product advice across building materials, DIY, and related ranges, and processing sales transactions accurately using point‑of‑sale systems. The Trade Counter Sales Person will handle customer enquiries in person and by phone, prepare quotations, assist with stock checks, and help maintain a well‑presented, safe, and organized trade counter area. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with warehouse and delivery teams to coordinate orders, supporting promotions and merchandising, and ensuring a positive customer experience in line with the company’s service standards.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with trade and DIY customers.
• Sales and retail experience in building materials, hardware, plumbing, heating, or DIY products, or a strong interest in these areas.
• Competence with point‑of‑sale systems, basic IT skills, and numeracy for handling cash, card payments, and preparing quotations.
• Organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to manage multiple customer requests and support stock control activities.
• Knowledge of construction, building materials, or home improvement products would be highly beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, contribute to a positive workplace culture, and follow health and safety procedures.
• Previous experience in a trade counter, builders’ merchant, or similar environment is an advantage but not essential.
• Flexibility to work standard retail or trade counter hours and physically handle products in line with manual handling guidelines.
