Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals as required.
• Work accurately with light-gauge materials and precision-fabricated components.
• Interpret and work from engineering and fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Prepare materials and weld joints accurately prior to welding.
• Assemble and weld fabricated components and structures to the required standards.
• Carry out pre-weld preparation and post-weld finishing, including grinding and polishing.
• Visually inspect completed welds and identify and correct defects where required.

Job description

Location: Co. Mayo

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm; Friday, 9:00am–3:30pm

Rate: Up to €30 per hour, depending on experience.

Our client, a well-established precision fabrication company based in Co. Mayo, is currently seeking an experienced TIG Welder to join their team.

The successful candidate will carry out high-quality TIG welding and finishing work, with a particular focus on stainless steel and light-gauge materials. This position requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce clean, precise welds to a high standard.

Experience working within the pharmaceutical sector would be a significant advantage.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals as required.
• Work accurately with light-gauge materials and precision-fabricated components.
• Interpret and work from engineering and fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Prepare materials and weld joints accurately prior to welding.
• Assemble and weld fabricated components and structures to the required standards.
• Carry out pre-weld preparation and post-weld finishing, including grinding and polishing.
• Visually inspect completed welds and identify and correct defects where required.
• Ensure completed work meets specified dimensions, tolerances and quality requirements.
• Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe and effective working condition.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
• Follow all relevant health, safety and quality procedures

Job requirements

• Proven professional TIG welding experience.
• Strong experience welding stainless steel to high-quality, fine-tolerance standards.
• Experience working with light-gauge materials, typically in the region of 1mm to 5mm thickness.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong knowledge of weld preparation, TIG welding techniques and finishing processes.
• Experience with grinding and polishing to achieve clean, high-quality finishes.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes and material properties.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Desirable

• Previous TIG welding experience within the pharmaceutical sector would be a significant advantage.
• Experience working within other high-specification manufacturing environments.
• Broader fabrication or sheet metal experience.
