Job summary

Pale Blue Dot Recruitment Limited in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, seeks a Senior Fabricator / Sheet Metal Worker to join the workshop team. The role involves high-precision fabrication, welding, and forming of sheet metal components for pharmaceutical and manufacturing clients.

You will read technical drawings, plan workflows, meet production deadlines, and maintain safety and quality standards. A minimum of 3 years’ fabrication experience is required, with strong hands-on skills and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in fabrication and/or sheet metal work.
• Strong welding, cutting, forming and assembling skills.
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
• Experience with fabrication machinery and hand/power tools.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to meet production deadlines and work both independently and in a team.
• Desirable CAD experience (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and forklift licence.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, cut, weld, bend and assemble sheet metal components to high precision standards.
• Interpret and work accurately from technical drawings, specifications and job requirements.
• Measure, mark and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Operate fabrication equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Carry out welding, cutting, forming and assembly work as required.
• Plan, organise and prioritise work to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines.
• Inspect completed work to ensure required dimensions, tolerances and quality standards are achieved.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to resolve production issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment and the workshop environment in safe and efficient working order.

Location: Co. Mayo

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm; Friday, 9:00am–3:30pm

Rate: Negotiable, depending on experience

Our client, a well-established precision fabrication company based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Fabricator / Sheet Metal Worker to join their team.

Working from their Castlebar workshop, the successful candidate will undertake high-quality fabrication work supporting customers within the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors. This is a senior position requiring strong hands-on fabrication experience, excellent technical ability and a consistently high standard of workmanship.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Fabricate, cut, weld, bend and assemble sheet metal components to high precision standards.

Job requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in fabrication and/or sheet metal work.
• Strong practical skills in welding, cutting, forming and assembling metal components.
• Proven ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience using fabrication machinery and associated hand and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to organise work effectively and meet production deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Previous experience supporting customers within the pharmaceutical sector.
• Experience with stock control or logistics within a production/manufacturing environment.
• Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.
• Ability to produce basic hand sketches/drawings.
• Forklift licence or previous material-handling experience.
