Job summary

Steering Point represents a well-established private surgical hospital in the Irish Midlands seeking a Theatre Manager to lead its perioperative service.

You will have full operational ownership of the Theatre Department and work in partnership with the Director of Nursing and senior management to lead nursing and support teams, manage scheduling and resources, and set the standard for safe, efficient, and patient-centred perioperative care.

Qualifications

• NMBI registration and a postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or a related field.
• Five or more years' recent acute hospital experience, including at least two years at CNM3 level or equivalent.
• Proven leadership, operational management and service development experience.
• A strong grounding in quality improvement and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and hold to account the CNMs, nursing teams and support staff within Theatre.
• Own workforce planning, rostering and skill mix, and contribute to pay and non-pay budgeting.
• Drive theatre utilisation and scheduling efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
• Be accountable for risk, hygiene, infection control and health & safety within the department.
• Lead quality improvement, KPIs and accreditation readiness across perioperative services.

Job description

Our client, a well-established private surgical hospital in the Irish Midlands, is seeking a Theatre Manager to lead its perioperative service.

This is a senior clinical leadership role with full operational ownership of the Theatre Department. Working in partnership with the Director of Nursing and the senior management team, you will lead the nursing and support teams, manage theatre scheduling and resources, and set the standard for safe, efficient and patient-centred perioperative care.

The hospital

A multi-theatre surgical hospital with an endoscopy unit, delivering care across a broad range of surgical specialties, alongside 24/7 stepdown, minor injuries and rapid access services in partnership with the HSE. Accredited to CHKS standards.

The role
