Our client, an innovative manufacturer of smart electronic and IoT products, is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to join their R&D engineering team in Shannon.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in automated testing, embedded electronics, and LabVIEW development. You'll play a key role in validating new products, developing automated test solutions, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability and performance before products reach market.
Working alongside hardware, firmware, and software engineers, you'll contribute throughout the product development lifecycle, helping to deliver industry-leading electronic products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop automated test solutions for embedded electronic products using NI LabVIEW.
- Define and document test requirements in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Design and implement automated verification and validation systems.
- Perform functional, electrical, and system-level testing of new product designs.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and perform root cause analysis of product and test failures.
- Integrate and control laboratory instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and communication interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and documentation requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks, automation tools, and engineering processes.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to improve product quality and test coverage.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience developing automated test solutions for embedded electronic products.
- Strong with NI LabVIEW (preferred)
- Solid understanding of embedded systems and electronic hardware.
- Experience working with measurement and test instrumentation.
- Knowledge of hardware communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, CAN, and Serial.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or higher certification.
- Experience with NI TestStand.
- Python scripting or other automation tools.
- Familiarity with Selenium or other software QA automation frameworks.
- Experience with DAQ systems and instrument control.
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience using Jira, Git, Bitbucket, or SourceTree.
- Comfortable working with mains-powered electronic products.
