Clark is recruiting for a Temporary Payroll Officer to join the payroll team of a large public-sector organisation based in Carlow. This role supports monthly payroll processing for a large workforce and pensioner population.

Hybrid working is available after initial training, with 3 days per week on-site. The ideal candidate has payroll experience, PAYE/PRSI knowledge, high-volume processing skills, strong Excel abilities, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Experience with high-volume payroll processing.
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Confidentiality and data protection awareness.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and professional query handling.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Payroll qualification such as IPASS would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume monthly payroll accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • Process and review payroll changes received from HR.
  • Administer PAYE Modernisation requirements, including Revenue Payroll Notifications (RPNs).
  • Process PAYE, PRSI, USC, ASC, pension and other deductions.
  • Assist with pension auto-enrolment and related payroll administration.
  • Respond to employee and pensioner payroll queries and resolve routine issues.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and carry out accuracy checks before payroll is processed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations and procedures.

Location: Carlow
Contract: Temporary, October 2026 to mid-February 2027
Salary: €31,922 per annum
Working Arrangement: Hybrid available following initial training, with 3 days per week on-site.

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Payroll Officer to join the payroll team of a large public-sector organisation based in Carlow. This is a busy role supporting the processing of monthly payroll for a large workforce and pensioner population.

  • Previous experience working in a busy payroll environment.
  • Good knowledge of payroll processes, PAYE and PRSI.
  • Experience of high-volume payroll processing.
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A high level of confidentiality and an understanding of data protection.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach to dealing with queries.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • A payroll qualification such as IPASS would be an advantage but is not essential.
