Job description

Join us to help lead the next wave of the digital economy. The world depends on the infrastructure that keeps us connected. From the way we work to how we live, every moment depends on it. Yet most of that infrastructure sits in the same crowded hubs, running up against constraints of space, power and permits. That’s where you come in.

At Apto, we design, build and operate hyperscale data centres where they’re needed most – in Europe’s fastest‑growing markets – working with customers to unblock capacity bottlenecks. These are the places our customers need to be next, where land and power can be unlocked and where growth is possible so the digital economy can thrive.

You’ll join a business formed to develop and operate the European data centre assets of global investment manager PIMCO and benefit from the scale, resources and land sourcing capabilities of one of the largest real‑estate platforms in Europe.

We have the firepower to deliver – but it’s our people who make the difference: a leadership team behind some of the most ambitious data centre projects in the world, and colleagues who will push you, back you and bring you into the decisions that shape our future. From day one, we’ve been deliberate about the company we’re building – values‑led, customer‑obsessed and ambitious for each other’s success.

At Apto, we don’t just build data centres. We build careers, capabilities and a culture where everyone owns the outcome.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to coordinate the end‑to‑end delivery of large‑scale data centre design and construction programs across Europe, from early design through construction, commissioning, and customer handover.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure and proven experience delivering complex programs for a hyperscale cloud operator, colocation provider, or major vendor.

Key Responsibilities Of This Role Include
  • Coordination of the full data centre delivery lifecycle from design through to customer occupation.
  • Co‑ordination of cross‑functional teams covering design, power delivery, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Supporting the engineering teams with design‑phase activities including electrical, mechanical, and power architecture.
  • Supporting the wider team with power and utilities coordination, including grid connections, build and energisation.
  • Working with our internal teams to track permitting, regulatory approvals, and associated schedule risk across European jurisdictions.
  • Supporting the construction teams, as needed, with commissioning, integrated systems testing, and readiness for customer handover.
  • Managing dependencies across multiple portfolios, projects and workstreams.
  • Supporting decision‑making to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Acting as the primary program interface between internal teams, business stakeholders and customers.
  • Providing clear and accurate program reporting, risk management, and executive updates.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering large‑scale data centre deployments in Europe.
  • Proven experience working for a hyperscale cloud operator, colocation provider, or data centre vendor/contractor.
  • Strong understanding of the full data centre lifecycle, including:
  • Design & engineering
  • Power delivery & utilities
  • Permitting & planning
  • Procurement
  • Construction
  • Commissioning & IST
  • Operational readiness & handover
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑disciplinary technical programs.
  • Experience working across multiple European countries and regulatory environments.
  • Proficient in the use of project management software tools and planning processes.
Preferred Qualifications & Key Skills
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Program or project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent).
  • Excellent program and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and complex dependencies.
  • Commercial, Legal and contractual awareness.
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels.
  • Strong risk management and problem‑solving capability.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.
  • Collaborative, delivery‑focused, and results‑driven.
  • Able to balance business oversight with hands‑on execution.
