Job summary

Reliance Talent Solutions is seeking an Interim Technical Manager for a busy food manufacturing site in Cork. You will lead the technical and quality teams, ensuring HACCP, BRCGS and GMP requirements are understood and consistently applied on the shop floor.

You’ll drive continuous improvement, manage audits, oversee product testing and environmental monitoring, and coach staff to foster a practical food safety culture across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising a technical or quality team.
• Knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS standards and food safety systems.
• Auditing and corrective actions experience.
• Experience in a busy production environment on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the technical and quality team, setting clear priorities and following through on actions.
• Maintain and improve the food safety and quality management systems, including HACCP, procedures and technical records.
• Drive audit readiness and support customer, certification and regulatory audits.
• Work closely with production and hygiene teams to strengthen GMP, hygiene standards and food safety controls.
• Oversee product testing, environmental monitoring and corrective actions, ensuring issues are investigated and resolved.
• Manage non-conformances and customer complaints, identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
• Support supplier approval, traceability, specifications and compliance with customer requirements.
• Coach colleagues and promote a practical, proactive food safety culture across the business.

Interim Technical Manager – Food Manufacturing

Reliance Talent Solutions is recruiting a Technical Manager for an established food manufacturing business in Cork.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a technical professional who enjoys leading people, solving problems and maintaining strong food safety and quality standards in a busy production environment.

You’ll take responsibility for day-to-day technical activities, working closely with production and other departments to ensure that standards are understood, consistently applied and continuously improved.

The role

About you

You’ll bring experience in technical or quality management within food manufacturing, together with a sound working knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS standards and food safety systems.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Experience leading or supervising a technical or quality team.
• Confidence preparing for audits and managing corrective actions.
• A practical approach to problem-solving and a strong presence on the production floor.
• The ability to build productive relationships while holding firm on food safety and quality requirements.
• A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in chilled or short shelf-life food manufacturing would be particularly relevant.
