Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment is seeking a Technical Design Engineer for our client in Dublin (Ballycoolin). The role focuses on providing technical specification support to the sales team and delivering detailed drawings and calculations for roofing and building materials projects.

Ideal candidates will have strong AutoCAD and Revit skills, plus experience in insulation, rainwater, and wind load calculations, with a solid construction industry background.

Qualifications

• Experience producing technical drawings and construction details.
• Ability to carry out technical calculations including thermal insulation, rainwater and wind load calculations.
• Strong understanding of roofing, building materials or construction-related applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical specification support to the technical sales team.
• Complete thermal insulation calculations and support the development of roofing solutions.
• Design tapered roofing schemes using appropriate technical software.
• Carry out rainwater calculations and wind load calculations.
• Prepare construction detail drawings using AutoCAD 2D and Revit.
• Prepare and manage company technical documentation.
• Develop project specifications incorporating product build-ups, performance requirements, installation clauses, and other relevant technical information.
• Provide technical support to the sales team throughout the specification and project process.
• Ensure technical documentation and project information is prepared accurately and to the required standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support the successful delivery of customer and project requirements.

Our client, a long-established supplier of roofing and building materials to the construction industry, is searching for a Technical Design Engineer. The company supplies customers nationwide and has established a strong reputation within the construction sector.

The successful candidate will provide technical specification support to the technical sales team. The role will involve preparing technical calculations, roofing designs, construction detail drawings, project specifications, and supporting documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical specification support to the technical sales team
• Complete thermal insulation calculations and support the development of roofing solutions

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience using AutoCAD and Revit
• Previous experience within the construction industry is essential
• Strong technical understanding of roofing, building materials, or construction-related applications
• Experience producing technical drawings and construction details
• Ability to carry out technical calculations, including thermal insulation, rainwater, and wind load calculations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Safe Pass certification
