You will design, deploy, and maintain highly available systems while driving automation, reliability, and security in a cross-functional environment. Strong scripting, container, and DevOps experience are essential.

Location: Dublin, Ireland (Fully Onsite)

Salary: €65,000 per annum DOE

Employment Type: Contract (3 Months)

Work Pattern: Fully Onsite (Monday–Friday)

About the Role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer II to join a fast-paced engineering team responsible for designing, building, and supporting critical infrastructure that powers large-scale operational environments. This role is ideal for someone with strong AWS, systems engineering, and software development experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working across cloud and infrastructure technologies.

As a Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with software engineers, network engineers, and infrastructure teams to design, deploy, and maintain highly available systems while driving automation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions in AWS.
• Build and enhance automation tools using Python and Java.
• Design resilient, secure, and scalable systems following engineering best practices.
• Work with networking, storage, Linux/Unix operating systems, and cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver infrastructure improvements.
• Automate operational processes and improve deployment pipelines.
• Support system monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.
• Continuously improve system reliability, performance, and security.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Commercial experience developing applications using Python and Java.
• Good understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with system architecture, scalability, reliability, and design patterns.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, storage technologies, and Linux/Unix administration.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Monitoring and observability tools.
