Job summary

NetApp in Ireland is seeking an entry-level System Software Engineer to contribute to the flagship storage operating system. You will work on features, perform design, implementation, debugging, and performance optimization for high‑performance system software in C/C++ on Linux/Unix.

This role offers hands-on exposure to storage systems, OS concepts, multi-threaded development, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams across the product lifecycle, including support after release.

Qualifications

• Hands-on proficiency in C/C++ and Unix/Linux system programming.
• Familiarity with design and development of system software.
• Strong understanding of OS internals.
• Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features and sustain existing ones; handle engineering escalations.
• Participate in all phases of product development: definition, design, implementation, debugging, testing and early customer support.
• Collaborate with QA and other teams to understand customer use cases and deliver solutions.
