Job summary

WSP is seeking a Civil and Structural Engineer to join the Ireland Energy team (Dublin, Naas or Belfast). You will deliver Civil & Structural designs for 110kV–400kV substations, using tools like Revit, AutoCAD, Robot, and STAAD Pro, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, lead design reviews, and support bids and site activities from feasibility to commissioning. A degree in engineering and progress toward chartered status are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in relevant Engineering subject.
• Working towards chartered status of relevant Engineering Institute.
• Solid experience in Civil & Structural detailed design.
• Detailed working knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the Power sector.
• Knowledge of EirGrid and ESB Networks engineering standards and technical policies and specifications for Civil & Structural within Substations.
• Experience of working with structural design software such as Robot Pro and STAAD Pro, and CAD like Revit and AutoCAD.
• Ability to travel as projects dictate.
• Excellent understanding of H&S requirements under construction regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost-effective Civil & Structural solutions.
• Create 3D structural models and drawings using design tools.
• Prepare plant layouts and 3D models for substations.
• Contribute to vendor design evaluations and technical reviews.
• Lead design meetings and workshops with clients and supply chain partners.
• Provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning.
