Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join the Skidded Switchgear Solutions team. You will design modular steel structures, prepare 3D models, perform calculations, and generate workshop drawings and specs for data centres and industrial facilities.

You will collaborate with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and site engineers, apply Eurocodes, and ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• 3+ years of experience in structural design.
• Fluent in English.
• Proficiency in Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys and related tools.
• Strong attention to detail and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs skidded steel structures and modular buildings for data centres and industrial facilities.
• Prepare 3D models, perform static/dynamic calculations, and generate workshop drawings and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with international, national and internal standards; cost-effective designs.
• Collaborate with architecture, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and site engineers for cohesive execution.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly and site activities.

What you'll do? As a team player, your responsibilities include:

• Designing Skidded Steel Structures: Support the development of structural design for low- to medium-complexity modular steel buildings. Prepare structural 3D models, perform static and dynamic calculations, and generate technical documentation such as workshop drawings, lifting and anchoring layouts, and specifications.
• Ensuring Compliance And Best Practices: Apply international, national, and internal standards, ensuring that all designs are safe, compliant, and cost-effective. Integrate good engineering practices into every stage of the design process.
• Collaborating Across Teams: Actively participate in project kick-off and coordination meetings, and engage with cross-functional teams including architectural, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and site engineers to ensure a cohesive project execution.
• Approving and Reviewing Documentation: Support the review and technical approval of subcontractor workshop documentation and supplier offers. Specify materials, services, and necessary certifications for project execution.
• Supporting Execution And Site Activities: Provide technical support during fabrication and assembly. Collaborate with site managers, manufacturing, quality control, and commissioning engineers to resolve structural issues and ensure safe and efficient implementation.

Requirements

• Education: Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus
• Experience: 3+years. Firm theoretical knowledge backed-up by experience
• Language: Fluent in English
• Software Skills: Proficiency in Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys, anchoring design tools, and MS Office
• Key Competencies: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, organisation, flexibility, and strong team collaboration

Nice To Have

• Experience with modular or prefabricated steel construction
• Familiarity with lifting and transport design documentation
• Understanding of Eurocodes and international design standards for steel structures
