Job summary

Techrete, a leader in architectural precast concrete facades, seeks a Structural Design Engineer to design and optimise complex façade systems for flagship projects in Ireland and the UK. You will collaborate with design teams, coordinate with production, and contribute to efficient, sustainable solutions.

The role offers exposure to both concept and detailed design work, with mentorship for professional growth and opportunities to travel for site inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in reinforced concrete and steel design.
• Aim to become Chartered Engineer (in-house mentorship).

Responsibilities

• Design unique precast concrete façade systems and fixings for flagship projects.
• Collaborate with client design teams to create whole façade solutions.
• Coordinate with Production and Installation teams for manufacture and erection optimised designs.
• Develop both concept and detailed designs for each project.
• Prepare calculations and review drawings for production.

Operating from our two, modern production facilities in Dublin and North Lincolnshire and with sales and design offices in London and Leicester, we offer a complete precast concrete solution from design, to manufacture, and installation.

About The Role

To complement our current inhouse design capabilities, we are looking to add a Structural Design Engineer to our team to assist in the design and future development of our facade elements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design of unique architectural precast concrete facade systems and supporting fixings, on flag ship projects in sectors like commercial, residential, leisure , healthcare.
• Working with client design teams to develop bespoke 'whole' facade solutions to suit architectural, structural and site constraints.
• Liaising with the inhouse Production and Installation Teams to ensure optimum design for manufacture , transportation, and erection on site.
• Working on both Concept and Detail Designs for each project.
• Preparation of calculations and reviewing drawings for production.
• Reporting to a Senior Structural Engineer and working with a very experienced teams of designers.
• May require some occasional travel between Ireland and UK for meetings and site inspections.
• Opportunity to develop your engineering design and project management skills on a variety of building types by in Ireland and UK.

About You

• Ability to work on own initiative in a busy environment but with support and mentorship from the rest of the engineering team
• Good analytical and numerical skills.
• Good knowledge of Building Regulations.
• Good communication and team building skills are required.
• A working knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles as they relate to facades.
• Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in the use of Design Software, including Structural Engineering Design Packages, AutoCAD, Tekla, Revitt, Sketch Up and Excel etc.
• Experience in precast concrete industry an advantage.

Qualifications / Expertise

• Education: Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience with specific experience in reinforced concrete and steel design.
• Ambition to become a Chartered Engineer ( inhouse mentorship and training will be provided)
• Experience in precast concrete industry an advantage.
• Experience in the use of Design Software, including Structural Engineering Design Packages, AutoCAD, Tekla, Revitt, Sketch Up and Excel etc.
