Job summary

Walsh Waste & Recycling, based in Oranmore, Ireland, seeks a qualified Financial Controller to lead the finance function end-to-end. The role involves shaping the finance team, driving pricing discipline, and delivering financial visibility for strategic growth toward 2031 targets.

A hands-on leader is needed to implement robust controls and scalable processes. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in finance, a recognized professional qualification, and experience in pricing, tenders, and

Qualifications

7+ years’ experience in the private sector or industry.
Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA) essential.
Experience in a finance leadership role (Head of Finance or Financial Controller).
Proven record of leading and developing a finance team.
Commercially minded with direct pricing, tendering or contract negotiation experience.
Comfortable using analytics/AI tools and financial systems for reporting and insight.
Experience in waste, recycling, transport, or multi-branch services is desirable.

Responsibilities

Analyse historic financial performance to identify trends and opportunities for strategic decisions.
Own pricing strategy and present pricing changes to GM for approval.
Provide commercial input into tenders including pricing and terms.
Support strategic development of the finance function.
Lead financial analysis for strategic projects including due diligence for acquisitions.
Produce monthly management accounts and ensure revenue recognition policy is applied.
Lead annual external audit and statutory financial statements.
