Job summary

Qualifications

• Hold a Planning qualification (at least Level 8)
• Have at least five years’ satisfactory relevant planning experience
• Technical training and expertise of a high standard
• Administrative experience of a high standard
• Full Driving Licence, Category B desirable

Responsibilities

• Assess and make recommendations on planning applications in line with relevant plans, policies and legislation.
• Provide pre-application consultations and planning advice to the public, internal departments and elected members.
• Prepare and implement the city development plan, local area plans, planning schemes and related reports.
• Liaise with neighbouring planning authorities and public authorities on implementation.
• Monitor progress and analyse development and market activity.
• Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary project teams and strategic initiatives.
• Carry out traffic and transport planning.
• Prepare policy and reports on conservation matters.
• Build and maintain cooperative relationships and supervise staff as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
