Job summary

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation frameworks and virtualization platforms for Cadence's global engineering environment.

You will work at the intersection of infrastructure automation, cloud integration, and platform engineering, collaborating with senior architects and mentoring junior engineers. The role involves hands-on work with Terraform, Ansible, Python, GitHub Enterprise, and virtualization tech across AWS and Azure,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5–8 years of infrastructure engineering experience with automation
• Expert-level Terraform for multi-environment deployments
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation
• Python and Bash scripting for automation and tooling
• Proficiency with virtualization platforms (Nutanix, KVM, VMware)
• Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and GitOps workflows
• Networking basics in virtualized environments
• Experience with GitHub/GitHub Enterprise and PR workflows
• Strong documentation and architecture diagram skills

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain IaC solutions using Terraform and Ansible
• Develop Python and Bash automation scripts to reduce manual work
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions
• Administer and optimize Nutanix, KVM, and VMware virtualization platforms
• Support hybrid cloud operations across AWS and Azure
• Contribute to architecture discussions on automation and cloud integration
• Monitor infrastructure with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog
• Document automation frameworks, runbooks, and standards
• Contribute to security and compliance in pipelines
• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming and code reviews
