Job summary

Pantheon is hiring a Staff Software Engineer with a strong SRE orientation to elevate the reliability of our internal platform. You will define SRE foundations, drive adoption of SLOs/SLIs, and standardize observability across the PIE and Internal Platform Group.

Based in Ireland and remote within the country, you will lead Go-based services on Cloud Run/GKE, Terraform-driven patterns, and a Grafana-centered observability stack to empower 15+ engineering teams to ship quickly and safely.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production systems.
• Strong Go proficiency (Go 1.21+).
• Deep experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL).
• Hands-on Terraform and Kubernetes under a platform-engineering paradigm.
• Observability focus: Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Establish SRE as a discipline across PIE and Internal Platform Group.
• Set observability standards and evolve signals (metrics, traces, logs).
• Design and deliver service templates, Terraform modules, and infrastructure patterns.
• Migrate to GCP-native services and reduce self-hosted complexity.
• Mentor engineers and own end-to-end lifecycle in a DevOps model.
• Participate in on-call and reduce burden via automation.
