Job summary

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is recruiting a Staff Nurse for a 22-hour per week, permanent post based at Biggart Hospital. The role involves working within a 20-bed rehabilitation ward with minimal supervision and a multidisciplinary team to deliver care to a defined patient caseload.

Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse based at Biggart Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
22.00 hours per week. A flexible approach to shift patterns, including night duty, is required.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
What You Will Do
You will work within a 20 bedded rehabilitation ward within Urquhart Ward. With minimal supervision and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, you will be accountable for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a defined caseload of patients working within the professional standards held in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Knowledge, Training And/Or Experience Required For This Post
You must either have a minimum of 6 months post registration experience and/or be a new registrant who has been put forward for NMC registration but was unsuccessful in the block NHS Ayrshire and Arran interview process.
You should be motivated and self-driven with a commitment to developing and delivering a high standard of individualised care to patients within a rehabilitation setting.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills are essential. The post will provide an excellent opportunity for you to enhance and further develop clinical skills as well as providing an excellent grounding all registrants.
